Superb, "Buy-It-For-Life" Pruning Shear!
I do a lot of pruning (both in our own backyard as well as a volunteer at local public parks) and have used many brands of pruning shears, from the budget (Corona, Fiskars) to more pricey ones (ARS, Felco), and none of them come close to match the design simplicity and build quality of the Toshibo SR-1.The SR-1 with its extremely sharp and smooth cut is simply such a pleasure to use, making mundane pruning tasks so much less a chore and more an enjoyable activity, is well worth its premium price-tag for perennial gardeners.

Professional Quality Shears!
Obviously these are expensive but, if you have landscaping that requires a lot of maintenance every year, these will be the ticket! The one caveat I would suggest (if you suffer from arthritis in your hands or have weak hands) you should consider getting a good quality pair of shears that utilize a "ratchet" system to use in conjunction with the "Tobisho" shears or perhaps a small set of "loppers" for branches that may be too big for the shears to handle.Extraordinarily sharp and very well made by the Japanese a culture that for centuries has made the finest blades in the world.Yes they are expensive BUT well worth the cost. However, if you do decide to indulge, it is imperative that you take care of these with proper maintenance (including cleaning and oiling) after each use. Also, I would recommend you use something like a nice sheath to protect them. Personally, I chose to purchase a leather sheath made by "FELCO." Finally, and I can't stress this enough; clean, clean, clean, oil, oil, oil.Happy shearing!

One Piece Handle-Blade & Serviceable
Tobisho Pruning Shears SR-1 200mmTwo major selling points1) These secateurs are made of a solid piece of forged steel from handle to blade tip. Its not just blades riveted to a handle that will loosen over time.2) The hinge is screwed together and again not riveted which means it can be cleaned, sharpened and able to be tightened up like new.The problem with normal secateurs are dulling of blades and loosening of the hinge rivet. The Tobisho SR-1 makes it possible to address both issues more easily than others. So to take it apart first you remove the nut. Then you can either tighten or loosen the hinge by snugging or loosening the flathead pegged screw. You can take it apart to clean and sharpen and screw back together. Once the flathead snugs up the two blades, the locking nut secures that tightness setting. These aren’t the top model hand forged units but still forged Japanese steel. The only thing you need to do is make sure you keep these dry and clean when you’re done since these are made of carbon steel. The only thing is I didn’t receive a spare spring.

Best pruners ever!
I use these for cutting cannabis stems when harvesting. I've always used the cheaper Fiskars and other brands, some around the $30-40 mark and was always disappointed how they cut. They are usually pretty sharp at first but they quickly get dull. These on the other hand are extremely sharp right out of the package, way sharper than any pruners I have ever used and it's not even close. And they stay sharper due to the high carbon content, that makes them extremely hard but also brittle so you must take care to not drop them and keep them oiled or they will rust. Camellia oil is recommended to use, also get a cheap holster for them as well to protect them. STOP HESITATING, JUST BUY THEM ALREADY!! Haha for real I had them in my cart for months debating if I wanted to spend that much on pruners, wish I would have bought these ten years ago. You will not regret buying these.

Sharp and hefty.
These are such a pleasure to prune with. Wear gloves though. They're sharp and can be slippery.

Top Quality Product
These are a classic design and for the experienced gardener, costly, but the best you can get. This is a uniquely designed product that initially looks ordinary, but the looks are deceiving. The edge is very sharp and very hard so the edge remains sharp. The cutting side of the tool is slightly concave. This is caused by the way it is heated and cooled during manufacturing (think Samurai Sword techniques) . Since it is slightly curved, restoring a new edge when it does need to be sharpened is effortless, since the metal curves away from the edge you don't have to remove underside wear. We have been using Felco shears for years but if you are ready for the next step in shears this is as good as they get.

Very sharp and well made
My wife has been told that she's not allowed to touch them. The suggested leather "holster" is more than adequate but a loose fit.
