I don’t know where it was made, we used it for a French drain. We dug a trench around the house put a drain pipe in covered it with some mesh then gravel it’s working out great as a filter for dirt in our French drain

this is a 3.5 oz fabric - "35" in the product code indicates the weight.

Q: would this be good to use around a sump pump?

Yes it can be used in that application if set up correctly. One thing to be sure of is that the fabric is not in direct contact with pump, especially at the impeller/water intake point. My suggestion is to cover fabric with decent size gravel(1/2"-3/4") on bottom of sump pump hole as to not restrict water intake or clog pump.
