Ford Compatible To Ford Retainer (F2VY-7384-B)

This retainer was a perfect match . I lost overdrive and when I took my transmission pan and valve body down I found my original one broken and the pieces was laying on top of the valve body, I replaced the retainer and took the plate off the valve body to find that a broken piece fell into the valve body and had my overdrive silonoid jammed, I took tewizers and picked the broken piece of the retainer out and put it all back together. Added transmission fuild back and everything works great , this part saved me over $1500.00 ... Took me about an 1.5 hours from start to finish to take apart and fix with only two sockets and twizers... Make sure you look in valve body for broken parts of the retainer !

Needed for rebuilding the 4R70W transmission in my F-1250

2005 F150 4.6L with automatic transmission. If you lose overdrive, then a well known problem is the end of this clip breaking off and dropping into the valve body, blocking the OD valve. You don't have to pull the transmission but you will have to drop the valve body. This clip doesn't cost that much, but there are a lot of "while you're in there" upgrades that you should do while the valve body is out. The clip has held up for over 4 months. Hopefully I won't have to revisit this for the remainder of the p/u's life.

I lost it on my 2004 Expedition. First, second, and third gear are fine, and overdrive is like going into neutral. Sound familiar? This part is the exact Ford replacement for the retainer clip that is prone to breakage. There is no guarantee that this will be the problem with yours, but it is a cheap option versus a rebuilt transmission. The job itself is not that hard, though it does take multiple hours and will create quite a mess. Google “Ford truck no overdrive” and there will be a few forums, with great information. I can change my own oil, brake pads and rotors, serpentine belt, spark plugs, and other basics. That is plenty of knowledge for this particular fix. This part worked perfectly, and after two days down I have a perfectly running truck again. Good luck.

Your reading this and wondering how in the world can how can I afford a new transmission.. it drives great till 3rd and slips in nuetral.. yes some enginenerd got paud big bucks to design a transmission that relied on this $5 snap ring.. your right dont panic this will fix it watch the video on youtube twice.. and get it knocked out in a few hours... this will fix it...

Item arrived extremely fast and exactly as described. However, I didn't check my trans. master rebuild kit prior to its order and the the kit came work the ring. Unfortunately, I had to return the ring.
