The Cup/pan is 4-1/4” I.D. x 2” tall and holds apx 1-3/4 Cups...when full to the brim. The fry pan (which is slightly tapered on the bottom to fit into the cup to form a small double boiler is 4-3/8” I.D. at the widest part and is apx 1” tall so it holds Apx 1-1/3 Cup when full to the brim. Hope this helps.

Will this go out if tipped over like most new lanterns?

I am sorry but I have not tipped one on it side to see. This comes with pegs so you can secure it so it wont tip over.
