Cantu Care for Kids TearFree Nourishing Shampoo, Coconut, 8 Fl Oz

I purchased this for my 2 year old son. So far so good. Makes a great sudsy wash. Leaves hair feeling clean and smells great too! I also purchased the conditioner and detangler. I was using Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus products in his hair, but I didn't like that the shampoo didn't create a good sudsy wash and the hair cream eventually started leaving his hair feeling hard and with residue buildup. So far, (Used two times so far) Cantu has made my sons hair more manageable, smells great and I haven't noticed much buildup. I keep his hair in braids and plan on letting it keep growing, so it's important to have something that keeps his hair clean, soft and manageable. He is non-mixed African American.

A little goes a long way. Our son had unmanageable hair, part of it was wavy, part straight, and tight ringlets at the end. Before trying this his hair was frizzy and tangled constantly...its pretty long, down his back and was hard to detangle because it has several textures. This stuff is great! It smells wonderful and a little goes a long way. His hair is more manageable and the waves/curls look better and healthier. I bought the shampoo, conditioner, and detangler from this brand and all 3 products are awesome!

I'm not a kid, but as someone with a big head of wavy hair, I was pretty excited to try this product for hydration purposes. My hair is fine-medium texture. Cantu doesn't lather much, which is usually a sign that the chemicals have been kept to a minimum. While I love that, at the same token, it just wasn't enough to get my scalp squeaky-clean (which is probably perfect for kid-intended use as that means it is quite gentle) The caveat was that the ends of my hair got perfect hydration, but the root and scalp were left a bit greasy. I would use this again, but perhaps in place of a lightweight conditioner.

Just tried this on my own "slightly" wavy hair, just to experiment. What stood out first of all was the aroma. Kids will be drawn to the bubble-gummy scent, and will want to wash their hair all the time! But, for me, the product was inexpensive, and definitely moisturizing on my own naturally oily hair. I use Neutrogena dandruff shampoo on a regular basis, which is why I cannot give it a 5-star on all points. Scent, yes; cost, yes, moisurizing properties, yes. But not for all hair types, as the product page specifies. For kids who have naturally dry and wavy/curly hair, this shampoo is perfect.

We love all of the Cantu Kids product. The smell is citrus-y (is that a word? LOL) and it is great for kids to not smell too heavy or perfum-y. My daughter also has sensitive skin and eczema and no reaction! Also - we have been using it a year and it still works awesome (we have experienced other products that stop working after a few months).

I neglected to take my braids out for several weeks, and when I did, I waited to finish and it became matted and tangled. The shampoo was great, no scent and I loved that because I have to use fragrance free products. The detangler worked well on dry or wet hair.
