For over a decade, the Merrell® Moab has been the choice of hikers when a choice needs to be made, making it the bestselling hiker in the world. Famous for its out-of-the-box comfort, durability and all-purpose versatility, its predecessors have enabled 20 million people to step further outdoors. Version 3 features a new more supportive insole, a softer more cushioned midsole, a grippier Vibram® outsole, and partially recycled fabrics. Review: Handled everything from Mountains to snow with ease - I don’t usually write reviews, but these Merrell hiking boots absolutely deserve one. I’ve put them through a lot over the past year, from hiking in the Brecon Beacons and climbing Pen y Fan, to walking through snow-covered mountains in Norway and exploring waterfalls and countryside in Iceland. They’ve handled everything I’ve thrown at them. Comfort-wise, they’re excellent. My feet feel just as good at the end of a long day as they did when I put them on. They’ve also been impressively waterproof, keeping my feet dry through rain, snow and even walking through streams. All in all, a seriously reliable and comfortable pair of boots that I’d happily recommend to anyone. Worth every penny. Review: The Mother Of All Boots - So I got my first hike in the Mourne Mountains Northern Ireland 26.3.23 wearing the Merrell Moab 3 Mid GTX ( which arrived 6 days earlier than the expected delivery date:) )I can safely say these boots are comfortable straight out of the box. No need to break them in. I do recommend going up a size though. They are grippy when needed and the got tested today in marshy condition and I can safely say the are 100% waterproof. I decided to stand in nearly ankle deep water for 2 mins to test this. Feet were completely dry. They have great support around the ankle and plenty of room around the toebox. The cushioning is very good indeed with great shock absorption. They really are a sturdy boot. Highly recommended. Edit...... So after nearly a year of having these boots, they are holding up very well. No leaks, still comfortable and still in one piece. Only thing I have noticed, is the grip on wet rock is not good. Very slippy so if you're considering these boots, make sure you know the terrain you will be using them on. Apart from that, all I have said in my last review stands. Awesome boot and still highly recommended.

MOAB fan
This is my second pair (same size, UK9) of Merrell MOABs, the first being the MOAB2 which has walked the SW Coast path in its entirety, and they never let me down, continue to be comfortable and waterproof. The bumper strip at the toe has cracked on both shoes and both soles are showing signs of wear. I'm hoping that this latest version is made to the same standards. My first impressions are that they fit more snugly than the MOAB2, including the feeling that the toebox is not as roomy. My only complaint is that the shoes have obviously been worn before as they have dried grass and a piece of grit in the soles, but although a black Friday deal, were advertised as new. There are no scuff marks, and I'll keep them (as I suspect I wouldn't get them at that price again!). Can't wait to get on a new trail with them!

Excellent walking boots with a balance of comfort, grip, durability and value.
Bought these boots as an upgrade from my Merrell MOAB 2 GTX walking shoes for hiking on more rugged terrain where I'd benefit from some ankle support. Like the MOAB (Mother Of All Boots) 2 shoes they are wearable out of the box and don't need breaking in. Aside from the difference of the mid-boot form factor they benefit from extra cushioning and are fully waterproof with a goretex membrane. First worn on an 11.75 KM hike, on a 23 °C sunny day, they were comfortable and breathable throughout. When taken off at the end my feet were bone dry with no blisters or redness to be seen. Challenged by some rocky terrain there were no issues with grip. I've been wearing Merrell MOAB's in some incarnation or other for nearly 20 years and their durability is excellent. I use the shoe version for daily wear and typically get 2 or more years out of them (depending on whether I'm using them to hike in as well as for work and casually). The value is fantastic - pricing varies slightly depending on colour and size but in the "Pecan" colourway and an UK Size 10 they were just under £100. Would not hesitate to buy again.

Lightweight, comfortable and durable.
Lightweight, comfortable, durable and supportive. They also look nice. A little snug so maybe consider going 1/2 a size up. Excellent value for money. Very happy with them.

Dissappointing
Disappointed. Ultimately very comfortable, light and good to wear. But Their waterproof status relies wholly on frequent repellent spray. They are not warm. After 12 mths they had rotted left and right edge open to foot. Occasional wear okay in summer. Daily wear all seasons no good at all.

Very comfy, very NOT waterproof
These boots are very, very comfy. They are very, very not waterpoof!! I tried on many boots after reading various reviews online. Tried many brands (La Sportiva, North Face, Scarpa, Saloman etc....). I am walking from Shetland to Lands End currently, so getting the right boots was vital. My criteria was 2 things: 1. Comfort. 2. Waterproof. This was essential for me. The Merrell Moabs were by far the comfiest boot out of the lot. Instantly comfy. They felt like they needed no breaking in, so that was a tick. They are also "Gortex", so should be waterproof. They are also very light weight. So I went with these. I am currently 35 days into my walk and the boots are still comfy. They also have very good grip. (FYI - I am a size 9.5 but got a 10 - right decision). They are however not in the slightest bit waterproof. It's been unseasonably warm in Shetland and Orkney so I have been blessed with good weather, experiencing little rain. These boots absorb water just walking through wet grass. My socks are literally soaked. When asked by my dad if I was sure the water wasn't leaking in from the top, I can confirm this definitely isn't the case, as I have been wearing Gortex Gaiters recently and my feet still get soaked. There is no getting away from the fact these boots are incredibly comfy. But, they are quite simply not waterpoof. Don't be fooled by "Gortex". I now think of it as a way for a brand to increase a products price, in the same way that food products says how much protein they contain. If you need Comfort, and a light weight boot, buy them. If you need waterproof, do not. I will be purchasing waterpoof socks when I get to Inverness, no doubt at an additional cost of circa £50. I could have put that money into even more expensive boots. From previous experience I would, and in future will, buy leather.

Beau produit
Tres agreable a porter.
