Looks great & does not make a peep or a tick.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this clock. It came super-fast, & it was packed extremely well. I'm taking that as a good omen. I popped a AA battery in & set it aside to see how it worked before hanging it on the wall. This will be the clock we rely on most, so it has to be accurate. We've gone through 4 different clocks that all stopped working in a few weeks. They were replacing a clock I had over 20 years without missing a second! So I'll have to wait a bit to see if it will rise to the occasion. It's looking- & sounding like a winner so far. It really IS silent! Just like described.

Easy to read and silent!
Great inexpensive clock. This is perfect for my home office. The numbers are large and clear and the second hand moves smoothly and silently which is really great. The second hand on my last wall clock ticked every second so loudly that it practically drove me from the room. I recommend this clock to anyone who wants a good, simple clock at a good price.

Still working fine!
Have had this for over a year and it's still working fine. Accurate and no more ticking! I have it in the master bathroom and now don't have to close the door anymore due to ticking. Good value.

Common AA Alkaline battery will damage this clock!!
Clock stopped working in less than 6 weeks. Received a reply from company: "I am Coral,I am so sorry for that. Can you confirm that your new battery is a carbon-zinc battery rather than an alkaline battery? Because the alkaline battery power is too strong will damage the movement. Looking forward to your reply" The battery compartment doesn't say anything about this (see attached photo). I then looked at my box of batteries of all sizes and brands, and they are all alkaline. So, I looked on line and it seems that these carbon-zinc batteries are not readily available. The clock was inexpensive so its not the end of the world certainly....just annoying, and I had barely missed the Amazon return cut-off date.

Third Time Was a Charm.
Update: The replacement clock arrived on November 11th. It came in its a original box. No double boxing for this one either. I noticed that there was no Hippih seal on the end of the box and the flap was partially open. Both not good signs. I took the clock out of the box and examined it. It looked new. I put a new battery in it. These clocks do not tick but there is a soft electric motor sound, I set the correct the time. It's now five days later and the clock is still holding accurate time. I have upgraded my rating from 1 star to four. I like this clock, but it should have been double boxed and I should not have to go through three of them to get a good one.I bought one of these clocks from Amazon in May 2017 to replace a 10 year old clock that died. It cost $6.99. That clock is still going strong. It keeps the correct time and has given me zero problems. I put a battery in it about once a year. I read the reviews and I see a lot of people complaining about battery life and gaining or losing time. If you use anything other than a regular old carbon zinc battery, you will experience that problem.I accidentally knocked my 12 year old $6.00 garage clock off the wall and broke it. I ordered another one from Amazon and it arrived November 8th. It was in its own box inside another for shipping. As I opened the box, I could hear something rattling. Once I got it out of the packaging, I could see the second hand just laying behind the crystal. When the clock was moved, it just rolled around. I put a battery in the clock and the minute hand moved but not the second hand obliviously because it was not attached to anything. I boxed it all up and sent it back to Amazon and ordered a new one.The new clock arrived November 9th. It came in its a original box. No double boxing for this one. I noticed the Hippih seal on the end of the box was broken. Umm, not a good sign. The crystal appeared to be smudges and slightly scratched. Ok, now I am thinking I got a used clock. I put a battery in it and nothing. Next, I put another NEW battery in the clock. Nothing. On the offhand chance the two batteries are dead, I tested them with my battery meter. Both batteries are good. It's the clock that's dead. I packed it up and sent it back to Amazon and ordered another.I gave it 1 star because I got two in a row that was broken. Hopefully the next one will work. I'll update the review after receiving it.

SURPRISE! It IS completely and totally S-I-L-E-N-T!
SURPRISE! It IS completely and totally S-I-L-E-N-T!The second hand is a sweeper, smooth and silent.I'm actually shocked because in all my decades of living, battery operated clocks tick tick tick with the second hands. The only silent clocks that I'd experienced have been electric - which I didn't want. I had assumed this clock really wasn't silent (after reading varied and conflicting reviews) and had planned to remove the second hand to see if it would make the sound stop. But, there isn't a peep, no sound at all. Glad I bought two.

This clock is not silent
Never thought my first Amazon review would be on a clock. I always had a wall clock that made ticking noises and that never really bothered me except for a few times when I had a hard time going to sleep. All I heard was the ticking of the clock until I ultimately fell asleep. Due to that, I made the decision to switch to a silent one. This clock caught my attention because of the design, the four star rating and the title with the word "silent" in the description. However, I should have read the reviews instead of trusting the description as this clock is not silent. When I got the clock and popped in the batteries I immediately heard a soft buzzing/grinding like noise which sounded like raindrops hitting the ledge of a window after a while.I thought it wouldn't both me just like white noise or like my old ticking clock, but after using it for a couple days it was still audible. I decided to return it which was a smooth return processed by Amazon. To conclude if you want an absolutely silent clock this clock isn't for you. I was able to find one at IKEA that is absolutely silent without any noise emitted. This clock would be great for people who don't have a problem with noise or if this was placed in a noisy environment.

Old to new
After our old clock literally fell off the wall and broke, I remembered how much trouble I had had hanging it because it was really too large for thespace. This clock, while not as handsome as the last one, is smaller, looks fine and went up easily. So far, it is working well.
