True Temper 2036800 Replacement Double Bit Axe Handle, 36-Inch

I live in the UK and you cannot get Double bit axe handles for love nor money over here. It was either Amazon or the 'other' online auction site. The items cost was comparable but P&P charges were much better than the 'other' site. Considering that I purchased this item 'blind' (i.e. I didn't get the opportunity to view before buying) I was very pleasantly suprised by the item that was delivered. Firstly it fits! Secondly, the grain orientation is pretyy much bang on (NNW/SSE, rather than N/S through the handle)and it was 100% sapwood with no heartwood. As I have already said Considering this was being shipped 'over the pond' P&P charges were very reasonable and the item was well packaged and arrived 10 days ahead of schedule. The only reason this item isn't getting 5 starts is that it has been finished with a varnish, which I will have to remove and treat with linseed oil. Other than that 'well chuffed!'.

This was an appropriate fit for a True Value Kelly double bit.

Wish I would have read the reviews before ordering. Like many others have said, it did not come with wedge as description said it would.

Looked good and the grain was facing the right way. The only big issue was the laquer or whatever they cost it with was put everywhere on the axe... even the slot on the top was filled. Easy fix with a thin saw

out of the 4 axes i have hung, yes i know that is not many, this handle is by far the best handle i have seen. it came with perfect grain orientation, the handle is completely straight, and there was no heartwood in the handle. and another thing, I had to do almost no filing on the handle to get it to shoulder up. without removing any wood from the handle i was able to put it into the axe and insert the handle 3/4's of the way wit out using any type of hammer or other way of increasing my force. the rest of the way to shouldering up i only had to remove about 1/16 of wood from the side. overall great quality handle if you ever need a replacement.

The wood is good. the wedge is fine, but I had buy small steel wedges, at another store to complete my 4 axes ($10). I was disappointed when I saw the logos were stickers,looks like a price tag on plain white stock. I got unhappy with my purchase when I walked into a lowes, while out of town & saw the exact same product for half price!!!!! I bought the handles & some heads ,to put together for resale. If you pay too much(and I did) it is hard to resale, without these extra co$t$ I could start the price on my axes @ $10 less, a huge differrence. amazon .com was a expensive -live&learn-mistake for me so far

Like other reviewers said mine also arrived with no wedge. Surprisingly the grain orientation was great and the handle was straight unlike most of the handles at my local hardware stores. It is overpriced to begin with and not having the wedge included I would say is a deal breaker. Buy local if possible.
