It's okay
Having a lot of experience with the Festool Rotex sanders, I was hoping that this would be able to conquer the same jobs as them but for me it isn't even close. The sander doesn't really balance out very well on higher speeds which is what I typically run these type of sanders on. You have to dial back the speed to a sluggish roll to get the sander to not bobble. I think it is okay at best, it will get the job done, I just couldn't trust it to keep a surface flat since there is so much play in its rotation. Upon arrival the sander was missing a screw and the little screws underneath the sanding pad were working themselves loose. The whole rotex action works on a very small gear that seems like it will wear itself out with every day use. This one is going back because I think I will just go and get a ro150 and stick to what I know will work for me and last for a long time. If you plan on using this sander every now and then I think this could work for you. In a professional setting I just see it falling short for my needs.

TGEOS;' A Serious Sander
The media could not be loaded. If you've been saving your money for a Festool Rotex, here's a suggestion: Don't pull the trigger until you check out the Triton Geared Eccentric Orbital Sander (TGEOS). Although we met only a couple of months ago, I've already fallen deeply in love with this machine. (I still don't know how I'll break the news to my wife.) Dual sanding modes, variable speed control, and a beastly 500-watt motor make this a sander to be reckoned with. (My wife doesn't even have ONE sanding mode.) And electronic speed control means this sander won't wimp out under pressure. When it's in the "forced rotation mode," the TGEOS can remove material FAST. I mean REALLY fast. For sensitive surfaces or gentler sanding, just flip the switch to the "free run mode." Oh, and did I mention that the TGEOS costs less than half what you'll pay for a comparable Festool Rotex? You're welcome.

Returned Immediately
I believe there was an issue with the unit I received. I unpacked and tested in the workshop. It was very rough running, bucking like crazy. It was vibrating unlike any sander I had ever used. If not held flat, it would vibrate the piece I was sanding off the table. Triton has a good reputation, and I believe I possibly got a bad unit. Was returned and refunded without problem.

This sander is aboutvas good as a cheap DeWalt 5" sander that you can get from home Depot for $60.00. It makes an awful sound as it runs, the disc seems to be attached cheaply to the base and already has some wobble in it, I've only had it for 2 weeks. The dust collection is absolutely abysmal, and to make it even worse part of the reason I went with this rather than The Festool was so I could buy regular 6-inch sanding discs from Diablo at Home Depot but of course, those do not fit the dust collection hole pattern, it is just slightly too large for that because they want you to buy some stupid specific sandpaper of theirs. I am not a fan of this sander I am very bummed I spent the money on it and am now stuck with little better than a paperweight

Great paper weight
Biggest waste of money ever.. Pops out of gear driven mode constantly, power switch constantly pops to the off position, the front handle is worthless, it just collapses no matter what you do or tighten. It puts your hands to sleep in mins, Buy the makita, it’s cheaper, faster and smoother.
