Really good support for dogs with bad backs. I would definitely recommend the large fitted my Bassett hound.

Done more damage than good

This item seems to be well made and fitted well. However, it was not suitable for our whippet who has a slipped disc. I put this brace on her for a few days because I thought it would restrict her movement and help her heal quicker. When I removed it a few days later she was much worse and had a blister on her back the size of a grape fruit. I took her straight to the orthopedic vet and he told us such braces are a terrible idea.

Update: I stated I would update the review and my dog's compressions have healed. Took about 10 days for him not to get up without yelping from a sound sleep and he seemed to completely heal after about 4 weeks. We stopped using strong meds around two weeks later and the brace a few days after that. He was completely off meds at 3 weeks. I am using the brace when I take him out for any "long" walks, or I should say, longer walk for him. I was happy at how quickly he started getting better and my vet asked which brace we used when I told him at his follow up appointment yesterday and suggested we continue using it as needed. My dog has had issues with IVDD for a few years now. He ended up with two new compression sites that were causing him a great deal of pain to the point where we couldn't sleep because he would yelp and roll around several times during the night. We had taken him to one vet who prescribed meds, but it didn't help much. So we took him back about 4 days later when there was no improvement. He was prescribed 100 mg of gabapentin along with an anti-inflammatory. The meds didn't help much that first night. They helped him settle down to sleep, but he was still waking up yelping from the pain to the point we thought we may have to put him down. The brace came Sunday evening, but I didn't use it til Tuesday morning (yesterday) because I wasn't sure if it would help or hurt. Turns out, it helped almost immediately. The fit of the product is a bit tricky. The body seems to fit perfectly, but the straps for the hind legs are a little short and barely make it through the loops for my dog. That said, sleeping in it for the first night, he only yelped twice and has been able to nap painlessly during the day. While I believe it is a combination of the drugs and brace that are working, I noticed a significant improvement by adding the brace. Highly recommend for anyone that has a dog or dogs with pain from IVDD. As some of the other reviewers noted, it will probably not fit dogs with longer backs like dachshunds. Although the brace fits so dogs can to go to the bathroom with the brace on, he doesn't seem to feel comfortable doing it because he can't move in it as easily, so we take it off when he needs to potty. As far as tolerance for wearing the product, my dog seemed a little hesitant at first, but is now comfortable wearing it. After a week of painful nights, I think he understands it is helping him. He walks better and sleeps better. It may be a bit expensive, but it is worth a try. I will post an update later in the month.

Tutore per la schiena del cane, comprato per dare sostegno alla schiena malconcia del mio nonnino di 16 anni che ha artrosi su tutta la spina dorsale, pensavo fosse un po' ingombrante e fastidioso da indossare e invece!! Tessuto morbido, avvolge completamente il busto con le due lingue regolabili sotto la pancia e altri due lacci che da sotto le zampe posteriori si attaccano con velcro sulla schiena, tutto regolabile per una vestibilità perfetta. Il materiale è elastico. Sul dorso sono state inserite all'interno del tessuto sei stecche lunghe che non vedi ma le senti al tatto, non impediscono i movimenti, neanche durante i bisogni dove cruvano la schiena quindi sono flessibili al punto giusto. Dotato di gancio per ancorare il guinzaglio per le passeggiate. Lo vedo felice, lo mette con voglia, mettendosi anche in posa, va molto meglio e cammina con agilità. Lo consiglio a chi come me, ha un figlio peloso in sofferenza per la vecchiaia. 💚

Unser Zwergpudel war immer ein kleiner verrückter Sprungball, d.h. hoch auf die Couch, das Bett, die Brüstung, den Abhang etc. und natürlich wieder runter. Gefetzt wie verrückt und der beste Ballispieler der Welt (wenn man ihn gefragt hätte). Leider war das irgendwann zu viel und er hatte wohl schon vorher eine Schwäche in den Bandscheiben. Nun hat sich eine Bandscheibe praktisch aufgelöst, sodass die Gefahr besteht, dass er irgendwann gelähmt sein könnte. Der Arzt hat also alle Sprünge verboten (wäre schön, wenn auch unser Hunde das kapieren würden...) und gemeint, wir sollen zusehen, dass er seinen Rücken gerade hält. Auf der Suche nach einer Hilfe zum Rückengeradehalten bin ich auf diese Bandage gestoßen. Und diese Bandage ist nun eine Riesenhilfe! Sie passt ihm in Größe S perfekt (er hat etwa 6 - 6,5 kg). Zwar findet er die Bandage nicht arg toll, aber damit hält er den Rücken deutlich gerader. Das erleichtert ihm und vor allem auch uns das Leben, weil wir uns weniger Sorgen machen müssen. Bei heißen Temperaturen darf er natürlich auch mal ohne das Teil rumlaufen, aber sonst trägt er das immer und hat damit nun gar keine Probleme mehr. Insgesamt geben wir 5 Sterne. Für unseren Zweck eine Riesenerleichterung!

My dog (frenchie) seems more comfortable with this back brace. It gives good support and helps with his mobility. Easy to put on and adjust. Good quality for the price.
