Great for families of adoption!
There are lots of adoption books out there but this is the best in my opinion. It doesn't call a lot of attention to the idea of being adopted but addresses it in a very simple, beautiful way.

Great book....sweet story!
While some critics tear this story down by saying the focus is wrong or that it has a limited audience, I disagree. This is a sweet story of the longing for a child by a momma to be. An adopted child can see how much he or she was longed for...how very precious they are. That's a winner for any child! The author has done a wonderful job and you will be blessed by the story and illustrations! Thank you Patti and Liz!!Susan HartPS I found out about your book by way of a young woman sharing it from the pulpit on Mother's Day and had to get it. I was not disappointed! Thanks for sharing from your heart.

Great Story
Like many others said in their reviews, I really appreciate that this story depicts animals instead of humans and their adoption process. Although in our house we have my husband and I as parents so many books fit our story, it's just nice to find a book that doesn't specify two parents or a mom and dad, or a mom and mom or a dad and dad. When I decided to buy this book and expand our library of books regarding our baby's adoption story, I read some reviews that said this book didn't show specific events that they would have liked to read in a story about adoption. I think it is very important to remember that books of this nature are fairly useless when read by themselves...they need rich discussions and other books to really paint the picture for an adopted child. That being said, I think this book is a great addition to any collection-we love it!

Best book for adopted ( and all) children and families❤️
Precious book for all adopted children, blended families and anyone in general. Love love love this book. My son received it as a gift from his 2 year old teacher 23 years ago.

Lovely story about adoption.
Love the story. Especially love that it ends with one little Bible verse at the end. No religious comments in the rest of the book however. A (possibly single - no other kangaroo is mentioned) female Roo with an "empty pouch" adopts a baby when momma bird just can't keep little bird in her nest (she fell out because it was so crowded). Birth momma bird is happy that her little bird has a warm cozy home now (although it doesn't show the birdy in the pouch). It ends with baby bird and her momma Roo giving thanks for each other.

cute but different
My husband and are are in the process of an open adoption and I thought this would be a great addition to our resources for sharing adoption with other kids as well as our own someday. I read it to my daycare kids, and friend's kids... it was ok. It's more about differences... say an interaccial or foreign adoption, or even just teaching children about diversity, not neccesarily adoption. It only hints on adoption. While sweetly written, and worth buying, I wish it talked more specifically about adoption. It does convey the mother's feeling and longing for a child, as well as the child longing for a mother, but kind of stops there and turns into a bird and kangaroo story about diversity. Still a good buy.

One issue in the story
Okay, *contains spoilers* :-) Firstly, story was on time, perfect shape book. This is a cute story overall, but can't see sharing it with my girls via adoption bc of one page- bummer, but can't work around it! The baby bird falls accidentally from the overcrowded nest, and the mama bird leaves the one fallen birdie with mama kangaroo bc her nest is too full. The other babies stay with the mama bird. I know this actually can be reflective of some adoption stories, but not for us (so adds more complexity/ worry than necessary at a very early age). I think we can find better ways to talk about why. Somehow the writing right there missed the mark on emphasizing the baby's worth, and came off as a mom might leave one baby if she has "extras"..... I totally get that it's hard to hit the just-right treatment of this moment in a kid's story.....just not for us.

Resonated more with my son than I realised
Bought this when my son was 4. He absolutely loved this book and referred to it for years, often referring to my lap as his pouch. It had a deeper impact than I realised at the time

Brilliant book and a very easy read
Absolutely love this book, as forever family, we know that our children are blessings. So it is nice to have a book that explains it in a simplistic way that a young child can understand my daughter was 8 months when we received our blessing and i read to her as a bedtime story. As a Christian was know that she was the child for us and this was ordained it nice having a book that has a scriptural reference. I have recommended this to our forever families.

Perfect for 3-5 year olds
Received a copy of this book as a present when we adopted our daughter. She is now 5 and loves it. Recently my sister in law adopted a 3 year old and I had been so impressed with the book I immediately went and bought it again. The new addition to our family is now home 2 months and loves this book.

Not a blessing
Very cheap cardboard cover that is very sharp (I cut my fingers on it and wouldn't let my child hold it).The cover doesn't cover the pages. The 'story' is very feeble and doesn't engage with children or adults.

Adoption aid
I bought a few of these books, as a foster carer I thought they would be nice to send with little ones when they are adopted . The story is simple and easy for under 5s to understand .
