Fun game
Not sure our friends entirely get the point of this as they seem to just put the most ridiculous sentence together they can without really hitting what the card says, but we enjoyed it anyway. It can be very funny although at times it can get a bit tedious. A good one for when everyone is in a jolly mood and there's perhaps some alcohol involved. This is really one for adults than kids.

HIL-A-RI-OUS!!!
Had the room howling with laughter. In all the decades of Christmas Day board games, nothing has come close to the addictive hilarity of Ransom Notes. It does take 30 mins for first time set up and arranging the words felt like a chore, but boy was it worth it. On simple appearances, the concept looked fairly ordinary, but straight off the first round we soon realised the simple or complex depths of childish and risqué solutions our minds could descend to. We thought digging through all these words would be slow and frustrating, but we set a timer for 2 minutes and the scurrying for the best or most random solution was brilliant under pressure, then, omg, the reading of the results had us on the floor. We could barely speak for laughing. You can obviously remove some words to keep it clean, but we honestly had no idea how 'wrong' the solutions could go. It's Card Against Humanity ADHD. Much more interactive and the results reduced us to tears. We almost didn't play it and it was an afterthought after a full night of gaming. The box and name didn't fill us with any interest so no one noticed it. It ended up the runaway success of the night taking us beyond 2am and we left it out ready for boxing day.Full version is not for polite company, but you can remove words as you need. There's no swear words as such, but there are a thousand childish routes your depraved minds can sink to with some key naughty words. Absolutely brilliant. Box and marketing design needs a more sophisticated edge to gather more instant appeal, but the game is brilliant, dumb nonsense and we loved it.

Yes, you can play with kids - with a bit of work first!
Well this is great! So much fun. If you're thinking of buying it for a family game to play with kids, you can! I did. Though based on other reviews I was aware it might not be suitable. However I just made sure to remove any unsuitable cards and magnetic words before use. Please note, this will mean removing about a third, if not a bit more, of the cards! And quite a few magnetic words. A lot of them are VERY unsuitable for young kids (mine were 11 at the time of purchase and first play). To be honest, a lot of them I wouldn't want to use with my kids at any age - even if they were adults! Just a bit too rude and embarrassing for all!So, lots of the cards and magnetic words need removing, but you're still left with loads of suitable cards and words to play with. More than enough. You could also make up you own cards. We have been in stitches, crying with laughter playing this. It really is a great family game (once unsuitable cards and words removed), though I'd say maybe for age 10+. And you do need to have a certain level of silly humour.I removed a star because I feel there's no need for such inappropriate cards to be in a game. And I do think the company should make a family friendly version from the off. That would be great!Otherwise, defo recommended for easy fun on a family game night, if you're willing to spend the time sitting pulling all the inappropriate stuff out before showing it to your kids.

Creative game that has retired Cards Against Humanity in our group
Okay, firstly do not buy this at full price. It's expensive and often goes on sale. But secondly, you should definitely buy it.The prompts are simple and creative. Everyone I played this with, including those doubting their own creative wit, had fun and was able to complete responses.Set up is a bit of a nightmare because there's so many small magnetic pieces so we just grab a handful of bits and deal with that, but it can mean a bad spread of words between players. The build is decent and should last.. much more risk of losing pieces, as I've found out.No more cards against humanity in this household.

Lots of potential
Fun but fiddly. Hundreds of pieces which are your words, then you make sentences with the words you have - to make a humorous response to the scenario. Plenty of opportunity to be rude, surreal and very funny. Good when playing with like minded people who are willing to put the time in…

Perfect game for large groups (or 4!)
Omgosh this is a hilarious game! We absolutely love getting this out with a larger gaming group and always get some laughs until point of crying. Suitable for kids if take out some cards. Can be as rude or PC as you want - I like that it's not as brash as Cards Against Humanity. Would highly recommend.

Easy to play and endlessly entertaining. We cried with laughter at some of the answers
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and I can’t tell you how much we love it! We’ve played it every day with various family and visitors (including two teenagers who absolutely love it too!). Some of the answers have been hilarious. A couple of the cards are a bit risqué for the teenagers but we just pick another card and carry on. I’d highly recommend this game, it’s glorious. It’s so easy to get the hang of and is endlessly entertaining.

Unterhaltsames Spiel, wenn Sie Cards Against Humanity oder Ähnliches mögen. Der einzige Nachteil ist, dass dieses Spiel meiner Meinung nach viel langsamer und weniger lustig ist.

Incredibly Entertaining
I picked up Ransom Notes for game nights with friends. We were looking for something quick, easy to play, and guaranteed to get laughs when people are tired of the same old card games. We played with 5 of us on a Friday night: players pull random magnets, draw a prompt (like “Tell someone you've clogged their toilet at a party”), and scramble to build the funniest sentence. It took under a minute for everyone to get the hang of it.ProsInstantly funny, even with people who don’t consider themselves “game-night kind of people.”Incredibly easy to learn; there are no complicated rules or long instructions.Endless replayability thanks to 840 magnets + 250 prompts.Great for group settings or parties; works well even with larger groups if you team up.Compact packaging: very easy to store or throw in a bag for travel.Cons / what to knowHumor leans toward absurd and sometimes crass. If you’re playing with kids or more conservative folks, you might want to pre-screen / skip certain prompts. Some magnets feel a little small if you prefer larger print / words. This could be tricky under dim lighting or for folks with large hands. For a tight group of 2–3 people, the game is less fun; best with 4–6+ players.Especially good for game nights, holiday get-togethers, or just killing time with friends. Definitely recommend!
