Really well written.
For those wishing to take a closer look at warfare through the medium of the illuminated manuscript then this book is a must.

Nice little book
This was an enjoyable book which catalogues some of the medieval art depicting warfare and what we can take from that.Making the explanations and historical discussion more sparse makes this book easier to read with the focus being on the artwork itself. This means it's a relatively quick read and one that is easy to reference and probably go back to again in future. There would have been the possibility of it being quite dry, but that isn't the case. You do need to have an interest in medieval history to fully appreciate it though and wouldn't say it's a book you can't put down but great for a passing interest or reference.

Excellent
Bought as a gift for my other half who is mad about the templars and the medieval period. He is extremely pleased! The illustrations give an insight into how Warcraft was taught, with gory details. I haven’t read the text but the art work is absorbing and keeping him quiet! PS Books delivered next day despite having a week.

Superb little book
What a superb little book. Intended (I suppose) for the general public this is full of interesting information and superb photographs from the British Library's collection of medieval manuscripts - most (all?) of which I haven't seen before.Whether your interest in manuscripts or medieval warfare I would recommend this book, you will find a lot of interest here.
