Sorry I don't know what year it is. I bought it for my son about 2 yrs ago, and they are awesome watches. An incredible value. The band is not just an ordinary band, it is top quality, just as the watch is. I only got it because a coworker has had one for years and he loves his. The shade of blue is really attractive, also. Trust me it's a great watch. You won't regret it.

The hour and minute hands glow in the dark, but not particularly strongly, and the face does not. If you're trying to estimate the time in a very dark environment, that can be all you need. There is no active push-button illumination.
