Li-ion cells have about a 2 to 3 year lifespan. Is there a way to replace the battery or do you have to replace the whole stove when the battery dies?

Hey Stephen! The cell in our stoves will usually last much longer than 2-3 years - that is the lifespan for frequently used devices like cell phones. Our batteries last up to 5000 charge/discharge cycles, so depending on how often you go camping, this could mean from 3-7 years. The battery can not be replaced, but typically by the time it needs replacing after years of use, the whole unit needs replacement.-BioLite

Can you use charcoal to burn in the stove?

No, Charcoal should never be used. It burns hotter and will not "breathe" like wood and other biomass will. Stick to wood, pinecones, crop waste and other biomass for optimal use. Thanks!

What's the shelf life of the battery if never used?

I bought mine when they first started out probably was one of the first 100 customers. That was years ago. The battery is still good, I have never actively used it as it is for an emergency only and have charged it up once. The unit still comes on and the fan runs fine after all that time.  If the battery ever fails I have ample of batteries that fit. I have standardized all my emergency radio and signaling equipment around the 18650 and thus always have a stack of good ones on hand.

How long does it take to charge the internal baterry from 0 to 100 just burning wood?

Hey Tony! A strong fire would charge it in 60-90 minutes. The alternative is to simply charge it to full from a power source before leaving on your trip with the included cord.-BioLite
