DunhamMen's Cloud Mid-Cut Waterproof Boot

So, I have a wide foot, yet not a big foot, so I came searching here for any hiking solution that caters to my "pork chop" feet, haha. Local stores don't carry any options, which leaves to me hit and miss online hunting. I tried some lower cost Skechers, to no avail, so I thought I'd spend a bit more and see what that brings.I'm wearing them at present, to see if I can break them in enough to try on an extended hike. Oddly, the heel area is a bit too wide, yet the area across the the widest part of my foot doesn't fit, at all, like a true "wide" shoe. It's very tight. So, I deployed my shoe stretchers last night, and, by this morning, they were widened enough to wear without discomfort, but I wish they felt as perfect as the many reviews I read on here.The heel is not so wide to cause slippage, and the area across the "chest" of the foot (where the toes start) is not tight enough to cause pain (after using the shoe stretchers for 12 hours) so, no deal breakers as yet, although I had to take out the insoles they came with, to allow for a better fit. With the insoles, they really are too tight. So, I replaced them with the cut-to-fit Dr. Scholl's insoles.The exterior soles seem quite grippy and should serve for basic hiking needs, and I am not seeing any issues with manufacturing defects or anything, so I'm assuming they will be waterproof as advertised.I will update back here once I've worn them for a few days, and, hopefully, they work out enough to test for a day of hiking, since I have no hiking footwear at the moment.I'm disappointed in the fit, however. The too-wide heel area and too-narrow front area is a frustration. I'm hoping I can "wear them in" so it's not a waste of 140 bucks. Glad I invested in the shoe stretchers. This will be yet another pair of shoes saved by being able to widen them out, if these wind up being okay.I do like how lightweight they are and, thus far, just wearing them to work, they are not feeling too hot, so, if they don't cause foot pain, they seem like a win. They also look great. So, I really want to like them, which means I'm giving them a chance. Wish me luck!Hope this helps. Thanks for reading. :)

I ordered two sizes: 7 4E and 7.5 4E. I also ordered a couple competitors' shoes (Merrell & Columbia). Right out of the box it was obvious that the Dunham was more sturdily built than the other two brands. "Ok, plus one for the Dunhams."I first try on the 7 4E - it's really, really close to the perfect fit, but just a touch too small. "That's why I ordered two sizes." I put on the 7.5 4E - it's ridiculously tight, doesn't even fit at all. Huh? I try both on again, "yep, the 'larger' size is smaller."I check the label on the boot, not just the box. They match up.I hold the the 7.5 4E up to the 7 4E. See the picture: sure enough, the "larger" shoe is actually about 3/8 inch narrower than the "smaller" shoe.Bottom line: they labeled a regular width 7.5 as a 7.5 4E. It's not even in the ball park of an extra wide shoe. That's a factory QC issue. It's a bummer, because I wanted this boot to fit - as I said, the initial quality comparison is pretty favorable. But if they can't get the right labels on the right size, what other corner is the (yep, made in china) factory cutting?

Boots arrived as indicated. Fit was acceptable. Have return 3 other products claiming to be 4E width. These fit although could have used more height in the toe box. The tongue of the shoe is sewn slightly crooked so tends to move to the side. Overall I am happy.

So far these shoes have been great. I will give them 5 stars if they deserve it in another 6 months. They are light and comfy and grip well on rock slopes.I have yet to take them into water so cannot comment on their water-proofness.

I have a hard time finding shoes and boots that fit. I have a very short and very wide foot with a very high arch. I am delighted that this boot fits so well.
