Works like a charm
I purchased this item to replace an authentic Allen Bradley 1747-UIC. I was able to use this item with my existing RS Linx driver for the 1747-UIC after selecting the correct com port. No issues going online or downloading to SLC500 or PanelView 550 hardware. With authentic Allen Bradley devices selling used for 10 times the price, this is a no brainer.

There is something wrong with this cable. It does not work consistently. Buy a different brand.
The RS485 portion of the cable works intermittently, but when it does not work, it is not visible under device manager of windows. It is visible when it does work, but the 2 times I have tried to use it, it is a real bear to get it to be recognized. The RS 232 connector (which has never worked despite me spending HOURS restarting the laptop, connecting and disconnecting, etc.) is clearly defective. I did move the selector switch to RS 232 but it wont connect to the PLC and it wont show up in RS Linx. I didnt know about the RS232 problem until a week or so ago, because the first PLC I was trying to connect to was a SLC500, which used the RS485 portion of the cable. Of course, they wont let me return this piece of crap cable now since it is past the cutoff. I bought a TwinkleBay cable, and it shows up in device manager, and in RSLinx and connects to the PLC no problem. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this poor quality cable.

As good as 1747-UIC
Works perfectly with stock Rockwell drivers. Transparent. About 1/10 the cost of Rockwell.
