Dacor 24-Inch Convection Microwave, Stainless Steel, Counter Top or Built-In, 950 Watts (DCM24S)

A cautious 5 star review here. Swapped out an older Dacor 24" unit and honestly, it was a PITA. Minimum installation height for this unit (built in) is 19-1/8" and they're not kidding. I was able to make it work with 18-7/8" but .. barely. While we're still getting familiarized with the operation of this unit as a replacement for our circa 2003 unit, I think the operations of the microwave will be just fine. The unnecessary complications created by "safety" are a bit silly. ANY time you use the unit, for microwave or convection, before you can open the door .. you must first press the "unlock door" button (exactly the same size as a "start", "stop" and all other buttons on the unit). No kidding .. you cannot open the door without pressing the unlock button THEN pressing the typical, spring loaded door button we're all used to operating. Annoying. But .. so far .. aside from the specific issues listed above, the microwave has a great appearance, feels substantial and is cooking our food in a matter which aligns exactly with my, not very high, expectations.

Seller was fine and shipment was prompt, but unfortunately the oven itself was defective on arrival (convection setting caused the oven to overheat after just a few minutes, and then shut down). This should have been identified at the factory.

Ok…. Most important….make sure buyer is aware that the unit MUST be plugged into a proper outlet BEFORE trying to OPEN the door. Trying to open the door to retrieve the owner’s manual before plugging the unit in correctly only results in frustration. It does not matter if every display microwave in a store opens when the door button is pushed/activated, this convection oven/microwave does not…..put this information taped to the front of the microwave.

Prefect replacement for old microwave except that stupid button you have to press before you can open the door.

The microwave worked well as expected of Dacor. However, since the company has been purchased by Samsung, I had to contact their customer service to obtain the installation frame pictured and referenced in the user manual to complete the job. I was advised by Samsung personnel that the frame shown was not available. I was told that they had another frame, but I explained that it was not acceptable because there was no provision to release heat buildup. Now I have to build something myself to complete the installation.

It fit perfectly in the previous location as a built in . I was blessed to be able to get the same model number after 15 years!!!

Excellent product. Arrived on time and exactly as described. I did have a small issue with the revolving tray support but called Dacor and they took care of it right away.

Product arrived damaged. Looks like the bottom plate was pulled on, feet wouldn't sit flat. Given how expensive this microwave is, we returned it.
