Water cooled spindle great addition to the CNC machine
This water cooled spindle replaces my Bosch 1617 router mounted in my cnc router. I like the Bosch when it was in the shop as it moved a lot of air and basically kept the work area clean, moved the chips all over but worked well. Now that it has moved into a more cleaner environment i need to use proper dust collection and this fits the requirement for near zero air flow generated by the spindle. I have seen issues with bearings in these routers with long run times (100's hours) while not a huge deal just need to replace bearings when needed. I am planning on this spindle running hour or hours at a time. It came as almost a perfect kit. More on this in a bit.I did need to make an adapter mount for my cnc machine and a simple purchase of some 3/4 HDPE and some machining solved this issue. It does come with an 80 mm clamp which I did use though one could mount it like a router spindle with the proper size clamp, which I did make but used for the dust collector holder at the bottom of the spindle. I enclosed the water lines and spindle cable in a cable carrier which meant an additional length of water line. It has a very nice clean look for my needs. The VFD is working well and has a fan that moves an appreciable amount of air. I just chuckle when I tell folks that the VFD is noisier than the water pump and spindle combined. Almost makes it difficult to hear the spindle run. The water pump seems a bit odd meaning when it starts it makes a rattling noise for a bit pumping very slowly. Then it quiets down and will start pumping a lot of water. This is a serious pump after the noisy startup.I have seen where some have moved the VFD to a separate cabinet or enclosure. The water pump is 220V with a euro plug. This was a bit annoying which meant i did direct wire the pump to a 220 supply. For the US a 110 volt pump would be a better choice. The spindle does not come with any wrenches. A great selection of collets comes with this unit but sans wrenches. And that brings us to the VFD. Like the unit and easy to program but to make the best of this VFD a few more parameters need to be programmed beyond what was included. The sheet is the bare minimun to operate the spindle. I would suggest watching CNC Nutz on youtube episode 142 and follow his parameters double checking them against your spindle specs and your voltages. DO NOT start the spindle until yo have at least set the VFD to the proper settings. Negative results can be experienced.I did run all my lines in a cable carrier and am pleased with the water flow. I may add a flow indicator to the water line on the return side next to the pump. I did put my pump in a bucket witha cover which is necessary. Distilled water with a biocide is the cooling fluid I will be using. I may upgrade to a 110v chiller like the one on my laser. Seems a better choice for my work environment.Positives > It came well packaged and has nearly everything needed to be up and running. The length of the water tubing is adequate for most applications. Great set of collets. Spindle clamp is solid.Suggestions > Include a set of wrenches for the R20 collets. Change the water pump to a 110 or have a US compatible plug.

Good CNC spindle needs to be grounded at least in NA
Easy setup........... the 4th pin on the spindle should be checked if grounded to the inside of the body! If indeed it is then....... I ran a 220v single phase line to the panel that has a neutral bus that is bonded to the ground in the main building panel. Without the ground running from pin 4 from the spindle to the vfd the machine was in a ground loop with cnc control box powered at 120v. SOME OF THESE spindles say no ground needed. in my case the ground loop created made the motors and limit switches run wild. My suggestion is to ground pin 4 to the spindle body and run that to the vfd and the panel ground or neutral if your sure its indeed bonded to ground. once grounded all's good. No shielded cable but will upgrade that soon (14-4) just for reassurance. Mine works just fine.

Not a happy camper
I have gone through the setup per the manual as well as use the hardware setup settings per the listing.PD000 = 0 (to unlock parameters or changes will not be saved, 1 to lock parameters)PD003 = 400 HzPD004 = 400 HzPD005 = 400 HzPD007 = 20 HzPD008 = 220vPD009 = 15PD010 = 8PD011 = 150 Hz ( minimum speed to cool the engine )PD014 = 12 (minimum acceleration)PD015 = 15 (minimum deceleration)PD070 = 1 (manual, 0 = mach3 control)PD072 = 400PD073 = 120PD144 = 3000 (24000rpm)Unit turns on, but when I press the run button, there is a hum at the motor and the display show values as if the motor was ramping up but there is NO motor turning. I press STOP immediately for fear damaging the invertor or the motor.Again, I have double checked everything three times as well as setting the inverter back the the factory settings, then going through the hardware settings once again, but alas, no worky.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahThat doesn't make me feel any better.

Bad vfd x2
Update, requested and received replacement. I have done a LOT of learning about configuring these drives. I am a manufacturing engineer and have learned and set up much more complex equipment despite none being a vfd. I am now confident in saying the first and second vfds are bad. The first will not accept analog controls from the input terminals. The second has a bad current sensor and errors out before it even makes a full rotation. Ultimately i do not trust this equipment at all and will be returning it. Support takes days to respond, never read the first email, and keeps suggesting i try things i mentioned trying in my first email. This is my first vfd setup, so it’s quite possibly user error, but after hours and hours of scouring forums and resetting parameters at least 8 times, the spindle runs using the onboard pot, but changing pd001 and pd002 to 1, and swapping the j1 jumper to vi, the spindle stays at 120hz regardless of voltage applied to the vi input. Seller was contacted and responded with an unrelated fix, to change pd002 back to 0, which just disables use of the fwd terminal to start and stop. I tried this anyway to confirm, to no avail. Hopefully the replacement is fully functioning.

Missing component
The avaition 4 pin power plug for the spindle was missing.EDIT; After contacting the seller they promptly sent a replacement aviator plug. Will make another edit when the spindle is operational.
