Not worth it
Save your money and search “azores São Miguel itinerary” instead. There are several very good blog posts that would show up at the top of your search. I bought this book before my trip to Sao Miguel, I like to do a lot of research before I travel! This book is very general and does not mention or emphasize some of the most amazing sights I’ve seen on Sao Miguel. Unfortunately, there is no good travel guide on Azores yet, but thankfully there is Internet and travel blogs! I may return to this book if I decide to go back to Azores and see other islands, but São Miguel part wasn’t organized very well for me to plan my trip day by day or in an order that makes the most sense given the location or time of the day/week etc....

decent travel guide
The maps were useful, and several of the viewpoints and attractions were listed. This guide could have used more hotel and restaurant listings. Because hiking is so popular in the Azores, it also could have listed more of the popular hikes, since they likely don't change from year to year. Still, it was good enough to help us see some main sights; really worth 3.5 stars.

Great Travel Guide!
Great overview of the Azores. My husband and I stayed in Terceira and we visited all of the restaurants, tourist areas, etc listed in the guide and they were exactly as described.

Great information on the Azores
We stayed in San Miguel and found that the book flipped from region to region without any consistency. Great information when you found the town or attraction, but difficult to use.

Azores are open had a chance to see from boats, Sperm, Minke, Right, false killers, whales AWESOME
The Azores seeing a big building, modernizing boom. Unique to land locked Portugal, go to many islands, all unique. Me, Faial, Pico and Sau Miguel. Such treasures. The book a little dated, BUT VERY HELPFUL

Guidebooks just feel obsolete nowadays... While we appreciated the background info, the more practical bits we're often outdated compared to what is found online.

Azores Guidebook
The guidebook provides very current (Nov '16) information of high quality, which will be very helpful during our planned week in the Azores in April '17.

Useful guide
Had some useful tips, and quite up to date. The Azores is a strange place though, lots of little islands and so it wasn't completely detailed. Some descriptions / reviews seemed a bit more upbeat and positive than was strictly accurate

The only guide that focuses solely on The Azores!
I've only recently discovered Bradt travel guides but I love them! Really well laid out and packed full of useful info. If you're a Lonely Planet reader, these follow much the same structure.
