a clear taste of Asian; subtle yet distinct. Always a good choice
I drink this tea each afternoon while I read, and have done so for many years. Very little cafeen, but an excellent accompaniement for a book or a journal article.

Mild Yet Flavorful Roasted Brown Rice Green Tea
A mild yet flavorful roasted brown rice green tea. This Yamamotoyama tea is not overpowering like some other herbal teas. Each tea bag is individually wrapped to preserve the flavor and aroma. Share a cup of this tea with family and friends. The large box is also very reasonably priced.

My 2nd favorite Green Tea!
This is my second favorite green tea. My favorite is "Authentic Maeda-en Japanese Sencha Green Tea". But it costs a lot more than this tea does and you cannot subscribe to it and get additional savings. So because of this I choose this tea over my favorite. It's a close second too. I love the roasted rice flavor much better than just regular green sushi bar tea. It just adds another element to the tea. The caffeine content is good enough that I quit coffee cold turkey and did not get any withdrawal headaches which I would normally get if I quit cold turkey like I did. So I definitely recommend this tea. And it is a 4 1/2 star in my book! Close to a 5 star!

Not too strong or too weak
Has a smooth, roasted, almost nutty flavor. Doesn't taste bitter or burnt. The rice doesn't overpower the green tea or vice versa. Good for morning alertness and evening relaxation.

Succulent and Historical
Yamamotoyama Genmai Cha (Brown Rice Tea) 90 Bag Value Pack from Amazon Review I bought the 16-pack at first just to sample it and fell in love with the flavor. I bought a lot of Yamamotoyama's products recently and they're of the utmost quality (try the Jasmine in the pink box which is laced with jasmine flower oils and although it isn't as good try the Hoji-cha, which is where the green tea leaves are actually roasted brown--and interesting variation!). All the Yamamoto Teas I've tried so far have the aluminum-seal packaging. I'd say it keeps the taste and freshness in and the moisture out. Seems more sterile too; it wouldn't be afraid to drink it if we pulled it out of a nasty kitchen or gross person's pocket. You might want to buy the 16-pack first just to make sure you like the flavor. Centuries ago poor Japanese couldn't afford to drink straight green tea all day so they mixed it with roasted rice for extra flavor on the cheap. Nowadays no one is that poor (regarding tea, anyway), so this tea is actually made of three things: medium to high (4/5) quality green tea (the stuff you buy at the grocery store is 2/5 low-medium quality) picked during the normal growing season, roasted rice (I'm guessing they scrape the outsides of the rice and omit a lot of the rice grain itself, and finally, for coloring and extra flavor, they add maccha powder, which is 5/5 quality green tea and expensive by itself because it's taken during the beginning of the growing season and perhaps might even be grown in partial shade. So, drinking this, you not only get the earthly-toned flavors and a mixture of a few different ingredients, you're drinking a historical soup of the utmost delicious succulence!
