Charming gift for a newborn and daughter of a Bramley Hedge lover. Pop out mechanism could be better but the scenes are still very pretty.

I actually came across this pop-up book by accident while browsing for cutely decorated plates! The thematic sketches caught my eye, and as I looked into it more, I discovered this delightful book — and I’m so glad I did. I bought it mostly for the illustrations, and they are absolutely adorable. Each pop-up scene is packed with detail and movement — there's so much going on in the tiny, intricate pieces. It's a real feast for the eyes, and the craftsmanship is impressive. The storyline itself is simple and sweet, perfect for very young children, but honestly, as an adult, it’s the artwork that truly captivates. It also arrived quickly and was very well packaged — no damage to any of the delicate pop-up elements. If you love whimsical illustration and creative paper art, this is a beautiful little gem to own — even if you didn’t mean to buy a book in the first place!

The pages do pop up, they just need gentle encouragement to sit up the first few times. It's exactly as the photos show. The only slightly disappointing thing was that the first 3d page was very stiff and I made a little tear opening it up, even though I was being incredibly careful. Delivery was faster than promised and the book larger than I expected, so overall very happy with my order.

Very lovely pop up story books

I just don't understand how this can be marketed as a pop-up book. It's more of paper cut-out style, which does add some dimension but not really what I was thinking it would be. I have included a picture of a Twelve Days of Christmas pop-up page to show shoppers what I mean by POP-UP. Also, the book is apparently Mrs. Apple's diary of events for a year in Brambly Hedge, so the events are all condensed down. The few illustrations that are included are nice, but when 85% of a story's illustrations are removed to make space for the paper cut-out pages, it's not worth it. Autumn story is my favourite, and there were exactly two regular scale illustrations included from it. Yes, TWO. And the Winter Story cut-out shows the scene where Mrs. apple is bringing Mr. Apple his pie...not the actual Snow Ball. One illustration from the Snow Ball is included but it's not cut out. It's just...so deeply disappointing that I asked for and received a refund.

A pretty book, nice size, and a sweet story, the illustrations are lovely, however, every second page is a (pop up) page with layered cutouts which do look and move better the more you use it....Apparently, it needs loosening up initially as it's all a bit stiff when new.....overall though as far as pop-ups go....I wasn't impressed.......Its certainly cute, but I won't be buying any other books from this series

This is a work of art!! I love everything by this author. You get any book by her and the drawings just bring you to the coziest place ever. Again,this is for me,adult,I am not sharing it with anyone,it’s too good. This is a book to put on a display and take out on special moments. Such a treasure. And the story of the author is interesting. What a talented lady. Highly recommend all her books. It inspires one to start some sort of craft or maybe it’s just me. If you love cozy beautiful drawings of creatures and their beautiful houses - get all the books by Jill Barklem!
