I would call the outside 7.25”. And a 7” pipe inside would be a stretch --literally. The zipper looks sturdy but shouldn’t be taxed regularly.

Fits my Peterson and my corncob nicely. I have a small ziplock in my tobacco pouch and it’s only half full to be able to close my case- which is plenty for a dozen smokes. Been dragging it around a year in my backpack and desk drawer, no visible scuffs. Good, not luxurious but for the price, very satisfied.
