After really liking The Science Chef, I bought this kid's cookbook. It's fabulous! There isn't any glitz or glam with the graphics, but that doesn't matter to us. Like it's predecessor, it has chapters on detailing cooking skills and how-tos. It also has a chapter about cooking safety. The recipes are very good and there is a wide variety. Each country has a chapter and the very first paragraph or page details country information, including some translated words. All around great for expanding minds and having fun while learning. One of our favorite experiments is how to tell an acid from a base in Germany. My 12 yr old son and I also really like the"what happens when you cook custard?" And taste testing the results. My son then made the flan and it was delicious! The egg rolls from China are also very good and fun to make. This book is a fun way to learn and bond together while you get to travel while not leaving your kitchen. So glad I found this cookbook used on Amazon (not sure it's available new).

I have truly enjoyed using this fun cookbook to teach my daughter about other cultures, food while sneaking in science lessons. The recipes are delicious and perfect for a 10-12 yr old.

My 1st grader is not into trying new foods, but with this book and reading about different cultures, he's willing to give it a go!

Lots of good ideas that we can do at school but do not require a whole lot of expensive ingredients
