can i keep it on one color only

I have never turned it to any color but the natural glow, so, yes it can stay at one color.

How do i get the lights to turn on after replacing batterie w/durcell rechargable battery nimh1.2, 2500 mah. (used daily for a year before replacing)

According to the enclosed note, the light components (including the battery) are not replaceable. If you replace any parts, the unit will be damaged, and the whole thing must be discarded.

Will they blow away in the wind?

They will not blow away in the wind. They have plastic spikes that you can stick into the ground as little or as much as you want. We've had extremely high winds / storms and they have never come out of the ground. I have on rare occasion straighten them back up from a slight lean. I love these!

How many colors light up?

According to the maker, 10 colors, I believe. The colors keep changing, and I did not stay up all night to count colors. I'd rather let it play happily while I sleep.
