My son is a Lego lover. He says he needs all the Legos. He builds them so fast, he has an impressive ability, and I think it's an excellent way for children to exercise their brains by doing these types of games that help them stay busy away from phones or television.

My son and I built this Super Mario Lego set together, as this isn't our first one. This set requires the use of the app, which makes it extremely easy to put together. This is the first time I've seen the Boomerang Bro included in a Lego set, and it does come with another Piranha plant (but I think we already have one of these), but I like how this plant allows you to jump on one side of the see-saw, and it will bring the plant facing the character. This way, it gives a sense of danger that the plant can come back and attack your character. If you have more than 1 character, you can take turns jumping on your side of the see-saw and constantly move the plant back and forward while the characters accumulate coins! There is a little springy-mushroom, which doesn't actually propel your character very far, but it does give the illusion that the character is using this mushroom to get into the cloud platforms, where you can face off against the Boomerang Bro. It's a little tricky to keep the characters balanced on the cloud platforms, especially the one that moves back and forward, but it's a challenge and you do get coins the longer they stay on the platform. Finally, there is Big Spike, which is more of a set piece, instead of a new character, but he does prepare to throw a log at you (just like in the game) when a character stands on the platform in front of him. In order to avoid the log, the character needs to pay close attention as they step off the platform because the log will come right at them. Again, this is a lot of fun and it's a welcome addition to any Super Mario Lego fan's collection.

I recently received the LEGO Super Mario Big Spike's Cloudtop Challenge Expansion Set and I must say, it was a great addition to my collection. The set was easy to build and provided hours of fun as I navigated Mario through the various obstacles. The set was also highly detailed and true to the Mario universe. I appreciated that the set could be combined with other sets in the LEGO Super Mario line for even more fun and creativity. The set also provided a great challenge for my building skills, but still remained accessible for younger builders. Overall, I was highly impressed with the LEGO Super Mario Big Spike's Cloudtop Challenge Expansion Set and would highly recommend it to any LEGO and Mario fan. 5 stars!
