These things are junk. Springs are made out of cheap metal that doesn’t hold its springiness. If that makes sense. Once you move the arm up so you can get it above the drywall it loses enough spring in it that it doesn’t hold the light tight against the ceiling. Do not buy. Concept is great but very cheap product. Hopefully the others I’m buying will be better.

In theory this product is perfect but in practice these are total junk, don't buy them unless you see the coil count closer to 10 than 5. The springs are just too weak to support the lights. I took springs from a name brand can-less light and installed them on to these metal brackets and it worked perfectly. To the manufacturer: please please please spend the extra three cents and make a 10 coil spring!! This would have been so useful otherwise, nothing like this exists and many people would buy them if the quality was higher!!

Completely worthless as a spring clip. Mild steel spring, not spring steel. Won't spring back after being extended.

I read the mostly terrible reviews for this item and thought there's just no way they could be that cheap and that weak and that worthless because nobody would be able to use the for anything useful, let alone to hold a ceiling light in place against the drywall. But, yes, they are complete junk. They are weak springs right out of the box, but if you stress the spring even once like you would if you used them, the clip/spring does not return to the original position meaning it applies no force where you need it and that only gets worse every single time you actually use it. These are not spring steel and even the support brackets are of such light aluminum you can bend them with your fingers easily. Zero Stars !!

One bad thing about online shopping, you can't always tell what something is like from a picture. Very weak spring tension with thin metal. As others have said weak to start and gets worse after being extended.

A bit flimsy but can be somewhat fixed by bending it more

The spring losses strength after you push them, really bad quality material, don't waste your money.

The springiness varies quite a bit. Otherwise an ok product.
