Works great
This is a bit bigger than I needed, but we're very happy with this pot. I had a Maxim brand one for years and got before these caught on in the USA (the Brits have used them for years.) But I was seeing some corrosion on the exposed coils in my beloved, fast-working pot and looked up what to do about it. I found a UK article from a while back about the exposed coils having lead in them and not being healthy. Figuring I had corrosion and a potential lead issue, I immediately researched the pots available on Amazon. The glass one was pretty, but I figured the outside would be quite hot after water was boiled. I figured the same for the metal pots. So I went with a plastic one. The outside still gets pretty warm, but not burning hot as I feared with the others. While it takes up a little more space on my counter (9.5" tall, 10" wide with the handle) it is still fine. The popup lid (button on top) provides a big opening for filling, cleaning. The clear water window shows how full it is and you can see the water boiling. It shuts off automatically. It is much better to not have an exposed coil in the pot, thus the separate heating pad element does the work and the cord winds around, hidden underneath so you can make it the right length. As someone previously commented, you can set just the pot on a flat surface. These pots do take a bit longer to heat than those with the coil, but I already know this is healthier and one less thing to corrode/cause issues. The clear plastic switch is large and easy to flip and the pot shuts off automatically when done. For a full pot, it takes up to 6 minutes. But in my microwave, a measuring cup of half this amount of water takes that long.I like to make iced tea and I find that a full pot will make a nice batch of iced tea. I boil the full pot, put 3 tea bags in my favorite 3-cup Bormioli Rocco Frigoverre Measuring Pitcher, fill it, let it steep a few minutes, pour in my tea pitcher, and then pour the rest of the water over the wet tea bags to get some more tea water. Boom. Done. I had been microwaving the glass pitcher, and broke it because I then refilled it too soon with plain, too cold water into the hot glass pitcher. Didn't remember the lesson from the first time and broke a second one. This way is great: hot water into a hot pitcher, I don't need the microwave, and one kettle full makes a whole tea pitcher full.If you are just boiling a cup or two for hot tea or cocoa, then it will boil even faster. For first time use, I boiled about 3 pots of water and discarded. I haven't had a problem with a plastic taste. I considered putting my tea bags right into the pot, but decided against it because we like different flavored teas or make cocoa, so I didn't want the pot to take on the flavor and have an issue with that. This wasn't a brand I was familiar with, but the price was reasonable and I hope it lasts even half as long as my old coil pot.

I ordered this item on May, 18. When ...
I ordered this item on May, 18. When it was delivered, I washed it very clean before using. The first time when boiling water, I saw a film of white powder appearing on surface of water. I was a little scare & wondered where a film of white powder came from: water or inside Kettle. I poured off that amount of water, boiled again another amount of water. It again appeared that film. I repeated a more few times. The last time, I saw a thick layer of white powder stored up at the bottom of the Kettle. I was afraid of using water boiled by Kettle. The water might be contaminated ? I saw something was be peeled-off at the bottom which is a layer of white powder inside the Kettle. The pictures are attached for your information, and I look forward to be exchanged another product. Regards.

I love this kettle
I love this kettle! I just started using a french press, and use this kettle to get my water boiling fast! If you fill it all the way with room temperature water it takes a little more than six moments, but i use this for 2 people in the morning and fill it to the second line, which is too much for our 2 large cups of coffee and it takes about 3 minutes. Then another 3-4 minutes in the press. The coffee is always perfect, and well worth the 6 minutes it takes to make! Better than the Keurig we where using before.

Handsome kettle
It's an electric plastic kettle, and it does what it's supposed to do: boiling water for me to drink a lot of tea. It looks good, with the colors matching all my other kitchen stuff. Using it requires no brain. Just put the kettle on the base, plug in, and press the switch. I poured in 1 liter of water (there's the indicator outside the container), and it took like 4 minutes to boil all the water. It's interesting to watch the water boiling inside the kettle. Once finished, the switch turns off by itself. l like the fact that the kettle is separate from the base, which makes it safer and easier to handle when pouring hot water as well as cleaning and storing. The electric cord can be stored neatly under the base, as in pictured. This is a much better way of boiling water than using a microwave, and I surely will get lots of use from this. Highly recommended!

Tea consumption has increased...
Love this electric kettle. I was skeptical of glass ones because I kept reading the glass would shatter randomly, so I settled on this plastic one. I use it every morning to make at least 2 cups of tea, and once at night for the sleepy time tea. Boils the water fairly quick. My tea consumption has increased significantly because I hate the sound of the microwave running then beeping when the time is up. It does get kind of heavy when it is full of water, but a 2/3 fill will get me quite a few cups of tea. Great kettle and would recommend.

Best in Class Kettle boiler
I love this boiler. It boils water much faster than most on the market at 1500watts. It has a top cover large enough to fit my hand in for wiping down when I am finished using it. In fact I am considering ordering another one for when I travel as I drink a great deal of tea all day. If you need hot water I recommend this product.

Quick boiling worry free electric kettle.
Excellent buy. The kettle boils quickly and there is an an automatic shut off switch. You do not have to stand and watch it boil. Also being cordless it is very convenient for pouring into tea cups. It also carries an extended warranty on the auto switch. So no worries about boiling it dry. This is the best electric kettle I have ever bought in the USA.

Great office/dorm kettle!
Great product. The description is spot on, and the kettle appears to be working as advertised after a week's office use.It has already survived a drop test that would have shattered a glass product. This is a relatively inexpensive plastic kettle that I bought for office use, but it boils water quickly.....loads and pours easily, and the large, illuminated ON/OFF switch is very useful.PERFECT for office, dorm, etc.It shuts itself off automatically if you walk away and it's easy to clean, although I'm not sure that you would need to frequently clean the inside of an appliance that is only used to boil water. ;)I only wish I would have bought one sooner.
