Ocean Waves [Blu-ray + DVD]

Studio Ghibli has produced some great slice-of-life features that don't get as much attention as the more fantastical ones. Ocean Waves is definitely worth a watch: great character design, animation, direction, and the typical Ghibli attention to detail. The bonus features on the blu ray disc are also great, as with all the GKIDS releases. Especially interesting on this one is episode 2 or the experimental animation "Ghiblies" which follows the misadventures of a handful of studio Ghibli animators. Its fun to see the animators working out techniques they would later use in feature films.
