This reveals a world of prints that as a collector I had largely been ignoring but am now appreciating. I also purchased Mitford's "Tales of Old Japan", first published in 1871. Mitford collected these tales after living in Japan shortly after it opened to the West. Many of Mitford's Tales include Yokai but it will take more study for me to fit them together with Mark's wonderful research found in his book. And what a great idea to pair his research with the beautiful prints he located as curator at the Minneapolis Museum of Art as well as numerous other locations. The book is a "tour de force".
