Are these pedals suitable for riding with sneakers or sandals? I don't have special cycling shoes

Yes, definitely - my wife cycled the Ride London 60 this year using these pedals wearing a pair of ordinary running shoes. The small raised lugs on the pedal help grip the sole and maintain good foot/pedal contact. We looked at other alternatives, but they all seemed to use protruding metal screws to provide that grip, which seemed more likely to scratch your shins.
