Workbook is easy to follow through however you will need some separate sheets of paper for practice as not all pages are for writing in. Helped a lot.

Loved them all . Most were a gift for my mother who is learning Russian on the Duolingo App.

The workbook is formatting like you already know some Russian, elementary level, but still some understanding of Russian.

The chapters don’t logically build. Grammar and vocabulary that are in later chapters are incorporated into exercises in much earlier chapters. I’ve only taken Russian for 1 semester, but this is my 5th additional language. And I teach EFL & ESL. so I know language learning strategies and this is not logical.Additionally the exercises don’t really reflect the lesson. The majority of questions include nearly all words that haven’t been introduced. So you end up having to look up a gazillion words just to finish 1 question. The vocabulary should be introduced in addition to the grammar concepts.Finally, the chapters try to jam every possible scenario and use related to that topic. For example, numbers should have been introduced by themselves, not also with ordinal numbers, genitive numbers, days of the week, months, genitive of ordinal numbers, time expressions, rarely used time expressions….and so on. This is too much to dump in a single lesson. The book and the lessons do not logically build at all.

This is an excellent book on the whole. However, it quickly delves into vocabulary that is not for the complete beginner. In every other respect, it's a very well made guide to the language, backed up with plenty of supplementary materials.
