Featured is a handmade Thai Bamboo Rice Basket Box. These decorative boxes were crafted and hand painted in Northern Thailand by skilled artists. The colorful rice baskets were made to resemble the traditional food storage containers that were carried into the rice fields by the farmers as they tended to their crop. Usually, they contained sticky rice and some other things to eat. They were made from sustainable woven bamboo and accented with natural rattan reed. Each container is lidded and has a cotton rope handle. The outside has unique painted designs that reflect the traditional Thai culture, especially Buddhism. Some are painted with Elephants (Thai national symbol) and the Lotus flower, which is very symbolic with Buddhists. A few have some Buddhist inscriptions that are meant to be blessings to those who are using the basket. These small Thai baskets are quite versatile with respect to home or office decor placement. They make wonderful little coffee table accents or even kitchen decorations for that Thai chef. One of our favorite scenarios is to place some different sized rice boxes onto some wall shelves along with other oriental articles and you have a wonderful Asian collage.Due to the baskets being handmade to look vintage, there may be some minor intentional scratches. There may be some slight variations with respect to exact color tone compared to the photos. Approximate Size: 6" High x 4.5" Wide USA-based seller. Ships fast from USA.
