AVACRAFT 1.5 Quart Stainless Steel Saucepan with Glass Strainer Lid

Very nicely made saucepan, good quality. The Avacraft saucepan balances nicely on my burner where my old Cuisinart saucepan always tipped backwards because the handle was weighted, once I put something in it to weight it down then it balanced safely on the burner. The Avacraft stainless steel handle stays cool to the touch. I bought this Avacraft saucepan because of its 1.5 quart size, too many times with my old saucepan (standard 1 quart) food would spill out onto the burner while stirring, not so with this sauce pan. The hight sides and that extra .5 quart makes a huge difference. I liked this saucepan so much I decided to replace my standard Cusiniart 2 and 3 quart size pots that I have used for many years for Avacraft's 2.5 and 3.5 quart pans. Personally the standard American 1, 2, 3, quarts pans have always been a bit too small and having that extra 1/2 quart does make a huge difference in cooking. The glass lids are beautiful made and fit nicely on the saucepan. For me this was a great purchase. In addition, the two spouts on the rim of the pan makes it easy to pour your contents from the pot.

This pot is everything you want in a pasta pot. Heats water quickly, even on my ancient electric stove. Then saves you from washing a colander as you can strain the pasta using the lid! Base is substantial and heats evenly, but still light enough to lift and drain with one hand on the lid and one on the handle. Cleans up well in the dishwasher. I accidentally burned one cooking rice and did not hesitate to order a replacement right away.

I love the pour spouts/edges on this pot, it's one of the main reasons I bought it. When heating up frozen broth, or heating spaghetti sauce, I want to be able to pour directly from the pot without making a mess. The capacity and footprint is perfect so it fits on the stove even if I have a large pot on the burner in front of it. The lid could be hard to clean if you used it as a strainer, so I don't do that often. Since the lid has a fairly loose fit, even turning it so the strainer holes are not lined up with the pouring spouts (which creates a vent), a lot of steam does escape this lid, so keep that in mind. Only other thing I've noted is that the bottom is thin enough I have to be more thoughtful about using lower heat temps. I used to put in 2 cups frozen solid broth into my thick aluminum pan, toss it on high and walk away, coming back to simmering or boiling broth. When I tried that with this pan, the broth actually melted and began to evaporate (almost burning) before having time to melt much of the cube, so it was a sizzling block of frozen broth!! I lowered the temp and the issue is solved. It does impress me how easy it is to clean the pot itself, things wipe out quite well! I wasn't sure if I'd like the light weight, being accustomed to heavier pots and associating them with quality/durability, but it is nice when you're holding it for any amount of time and I've had no concerns that it won't last every bit as long as my heavy pots. I will recommend it to friends and family as it's my new favorite for heating liquids and cooking veggies.

This pan is everything you could want in a pan. It's nicely designed and easy to hold. The nice glass lid and a small hole to vent steam and help prevent boil overs. Plus double pouring spouts, one on each side so whether you're a leftie or a rightie you can pour with ease. Not to mention the straining holes on the cover is also adds that extra functionality. It heats up nicely and I have not had any issues. Plus I got the 1.5 Quart size which is just right for me. 1QT has always been a bit small and 2Qts a bit big for most of what I do in the kitchen. Of course they come in different sizes if you need it. No complaints at all and I give it an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up!! It is stainless steel so will not always be as easy to clean as non-stick but I can use my soup spoon to stir the contents which to me is a good thing. You just have to use it properly. It doesn't hurt to own non-stick pans too which I do. Just use the right pan for the right job. Happy Cooking!

This saucepan is made of light stainless steel. On first glance it looked better than some we saw in a Department store at this price. The reviews on this site were very encouraging. Unfortunately, it has some deal breaking problems. 1) It has a vent in the glass lid, but it doesn't really need one. The sides where the spouts are leak copious amounts of steam. Yes, I did turn the pour holes away from the spouts. None of the steam came out of the vent hole. 2) After just one use, the bottom developed dark circular spots. I bought a set of expensive pans (heavy stainless, copper core) 35 years ago that are still going strong. One of them I left on the stove years ago without putting water in it. It overheated badly and it left dark spots on the interior bottom. I am aware that this pan could never compete with the ones I have, but the lid should fit well enough to have the steam escape out of the vent and not out of the sides. The dark spots that appeared after one use do not bode well for it's future use. We'll have to spend at least double to get something nicer, but it's worth it if it serves it's purpose well for years. Plan on returning it. UPDATE: AVACRAFT contacted me after reading my review. They apologized for the inconvenience and are refunding my payment. It's rare to find a seller who acts as responsibly and as quickly as they did. They explained that the sauce pan really isn't meant to steam. The lid is deep to accommodate the pour spouts and can't be made tighter. I did steam potatoes in it using a steamer stand. A good deal of the water was gone, but the potatoes were cooked. The spots in the bottom are a mystery. The pan was used on medium heat (6 out of a 10 scale), enough to boil the water, but not on high. I'm to send a picture so they can investigate it further. I'm very appreciative of their concern and response. I added 2 stars because of the service AVACRAFT provided. That being said, the fact that it doesn't work well as a steamer should be mentioned in the description.

This is a sturdy pan without being heavy. I like the glass lid. It feels like it will last a long time. It doesn’t seal 100% due to the ability to strain water. It has not impacted my cooking. It does heat evenly on the bottom. I highly recommend this pan. I do not get paid for my reviews.

I use this all the time, reheat my coffee in it when it has gone cold, the pour spouts on either side, the steam holes that can be open or closed, all work great.

I was actually looking for a smallish(1.5 quart) pure copper pot to make hard candy. However, they were/are eye popping expensive. This had the same characteristics and far more budget friendly, i.e. a quarter of the cost. It was slightly larger than I was looking for but it's not really a problem because the pot is honestly the perfect weight, neither my wrist or arm get fatigued while pouring into candy molds. It cooks evenly and faster than my pervious candy pot which took an hour, this only 30 minutes from start to finish(pouring into candy molds) at the same heat. It also, somehow, keeps the liquid hot while pouring. That along with the pour spouts on either side make make it so much easier to fill the candy molds. I thought there would be an issue because it isn't non-stick but less sticks in this then the non-stick 'coated' pot, and the candy tastes so much better. I plan on buying another after Christmas.

Brought this for our caravan gosh its handy big enough for two and the side pouring is effortless its also very easy to clean

Once you have the strain feature on this saucepan you will want it on all your pots. Pot is well thought out and crafted.

J'adore cette casserole , très contant de l'avoir acheter . Juste deux petits points , le premier est le poids un peu lourd surtout pour le poignet de ma conjointe. le deuxième est qu'il est facile d'égratigner le fond à l'intérieur de la casserole à la première utilisation j'ai simplement passer un fouet pour mélanger une garniture (citron) puis les traces du fouet sont demeurés incruster !

I was conserned about the metal handel getting to hot but after using this pan I found they stay cool. Very impressed
