- This pack contains a set of 10 mint stamps, which were produced to celebrate 150 years since the founding of the Gallery. The ten images for this issue were sourced from among 9,000 portraits in the National Portrait Gallery. They show a variety of media which is exhibited in the Gallery including sculpture, watercolour, oil painting and photography. The most famous Portrait used is of William Shakespeare, it is thought to be the only one painted of him and was the first painting acquired by the gallery. The stamps were designed by Peter Willberg.
