It has plenty of power for pulling my door closed to keep the cold in in my room when my cat wants to go in or out at night. Although you can't adjust how hard it reels in the cord, how hard it pulls the door closed is actually highly adjustable depending on where you place both the hook and the block/reel. That made it easy for me to adjust how much force it closes with so it's not too hard for my cat to open while still pulling the door closed after. Installation was easy, but the foam adhesive pad for the block came loose after a few days of use. There are screws and mounting holes though which obviously provide a much more secure mount if you dont mind a few small holes somewhere. The adhesive hook on the other hand has so far stayed securely mounted on the door. As far as noose levels (I see Amazon asking about that) it's pretty quiet. You can hear the cable moving when you're walking through the door, but it's not loud at all. As far as how loud everything is when the door closes, that's dependent on your door and latch. To keep it quiet when it closes, stop it from latching, and give my cat just a tiny crack to get her paw around and open the door, I put a foam strip around the end of the strikeplate. It keeps it very quiet even when the door closes from all the way open.

BE AWARE: these are not strong enough to completely close any door in my home. As shown in the video, they close the door but do not have enough force to make it latch or sit flush in the door frame. I did end up having to screw them into the walls, the adhesive wasn't enough for either one, so keep that in mind. I guess it depends on the type of paint on your walls because it stuck just fine to the black box. I bought these to keep my mischievous cat out of the pantry and the bathroom as he likes to tear into bags and the toilet paper rolls. I like how you can unlatch the metal cord anytime and make the door manual and then back to automatic when you're ready without any screws. Personally I think it's just the right amount of force. Any more and we'd probably have a lot of squished fingers haha! My cats can't open the doors even with their full body weight.

It's a strong pull string. Too strong for my cat to open the bedroom door when they want to leave. 4/5 because of my dumb cat

The Shimido Upgraded Retractable Automatic Door Closer exceeded my expectations. It's durable, well-made, exactly as described, simple to install for anyone, along with a money saver. My security storm door needed a new retracting device for automatic closure which priced at seventy bucks for my type of door, this was ridiculous and out of my budget. I'm a loyal fan of Amazon and tend to spend four plus hours daily browsing and shopping then to my surprise I came across the Shimido Upgraded Retractable Automatic Door Closer this was on my top five list of 2026 Amazon purchases this year. I love how easy the door automatically retracts not to fast without a loud slamming noise when my door closes. The longevity of this product has a positive outlook for my needs. This product is simple to install, easy to fit your needs and make your life simplier.

It can't even pull the door close. One a such door would have to be so easily closed that a gentle breeze can close it. Moreover, the sellers literally use a basic label maker, that anybody has, to label this product when it really could be from any cheap BS. I'm so glad that I tested out the product before pasting the adhesives into the frame

The install was easy and the pull strength was decent. The door closed fairly quickly My only complaints was the pull cord wasn't long enough which caused the hook on the door to break from trying to open the door more fully.

We have an exterior door without a storm/screen door and this quickly closes the door when you don't have a spare hand. It keeps the wind from catching the door, keeps pesky flies out, and mischievous cats in. I installed it months ago with the adhesive tab only and it's still holding strong. A few times we have opened the door too wide and the cable popped off one side. It easily rehooks right back on and is ready to go again. I'm glad we opted for this one over a hydraulic bar or old school chain that had to be screwed into our steel door.

This fit the bill for my situation. I have a door that leads down stairs to the garage. Unfortunately I tend to leave it open and with a 14 month old that’s a no go. This closes it effectively. I did spray a little silicone lubricant in the latching mechanism of the door to get it to fully close. I will update down the road based on longevity of the system. Right now it’s 👍🏼

The indoor cat had learned to open the sliding screen door. This has enough pull/spring to it that he hasn't figured out how to get out. On one door I had to adjust where I put the hook on the door (had to move it to middle of top door rail instead of right near the spring box, to prevent rubbing on door jamb) but then it worked great. On another door I had to put a spacer block (scrap wood) behind the spring box (again to avoid rubbing on door jamb), but it's easy to rig it to fit if you're reasonably handy. I also like that it's very easy to unhook when I don't want the automatic closer attached. Very happy!

Ok good, working fine but the pulling power might be not enough

Still working great after 18 months in commercial office location.

Great Device to shut doors they really simple to fit and work so well.
