Q: Will the Hylomar AF be resistant to brake fluid?

“resistant to brake fluid” .. if you’re considering the use of Hylomar AF as a sealer for brake lines or unions, I’d use a hydraulic/pneumatic sealer. If you’re using AF on plastic brake components, I’d consider a silicone sealant before this; or, see below. Since AF is removed with alcohol and never cures in the traditional sense, and brake fluid is glycol-based, this to me would present a problem. The manufacturer does say resistant to “automotive fluids” but does not specifically say brake fluid. Hylomar Blue might be a better choice if you’re dealing with brake fluid; no guarantee, even though Blue requires a different solvent, acetone, for removal. Remember, these are gasketing compounds, or used on tight fitting flanges. Blue can also be used in sealing plastic to plastic components. Without a specific procedure / application, that’s the best I can do.

Q: What is the difference between AF and Blue?

Universal Blue was the original formula and had more solvent as compared to AF. You have to let Blue sit for a few minutes to allow the solvents to evaporate before putting the pieces together. Not so with the Universal. I've tried both products and I much prefer the AF formula over the Universal Blue.
