I spent several hours searching for the correct O ring for my water softener head to resin tank joint.Then, I found Captain O-Ring’s Water Softener Size Chart. This chart is included with the Kit 7112963 order site as a pdf file. It instructs you to download and print it as “actual size”. Note, the chart has a 1.0 inch reference mark to verify the pdf print out is the correct size.Next, simply take your old 0-Ring and match it up to needed O-Ring. These are a prefect fit for my GE GXSH40V. I'd say they are easy to install once you remove everything to gain access. I had to remove some of the resin beads to get things back together because the beads had swollen with age.

My GE water softener was leaking from the top of the medium cylinder and this o-ring kit stopped the leak. It would be a good idea to add a small tube of food grade silicone grease to lubricate the o-rings before installing them. This is definitely a good buy and I plan to order another set to have on hand.
