Our barn door needed a lock and this one was perfect. Easy to install and use.

When we remodeled our downstairs bathroom, we reoriented the door hinges so the door would open from the opposite side. We didn't want to cut into the century-old oak jamb (which would have taken forever) to install the strike plate, but we needed something to keep the dogs and cats from barging in, and to give guests some privacy. It's a beautiful old home, so a hook and eye or slide bolt wasn't appropriate. This sliding door latch is exactly what we needed. It looks great (the bathroom is red, white, and black) and looks much higher end than a metal hook and eye. The big flaw with this mechanism is that it's a very tight fit when the latch is in the closed position. Like, keep a screwdriver in the bathroom kind of tight fit. We're going to fiddle around with the assembly to see if we can make the movement easier, but after being unable to open the latch (and therefore unable to leave the bathroom) with my husband unable to help me from the other side of the door, I only barely insert a bit of the latch into the slot so I can get out. Make sure you test this multiple times before your guests come for a visit and you have to bust down the door to let them out. Apart from the tight fit, this is a great solution to a privacy problem.

We struggled with finding a lock for our double barn doors that was not the typical hook and loop. I thought these would be perfect, but they were a little difficult to install just right so your doors stay completely shut AND you can easily lock/unlock the mechanism. The first time we installed it was super easy to lock/unlock, but there was a gap in the doors. When we corrected the distance, the locking and unlocking of the mechanism became really hard to use.

Used these on an interior door to our basement that aligns with our older home's rear staircase. We like to keep our rather strong and strong-willed crafty cat from rummaging our basement (where our laundry is) and it's nice to be able to slide the door to shut off cat access and latch from both sides if basement time is also in doing basement chores. These latches are easy to use, and install, beyond our cat's capacity to hack, and give us peace of mind, along with a cleaner and simple look. All thumbs up!

Local hardware stores typically only carry standard latches that are meant to close gates or doors across a flat surface. In my case I had a 90 degree corner and those wouldn't work. This is perfect for these scenarios, and the black color matches my existing hinges. Seem well built for it's purpose, no complaints.

I purchased this to secure some exterior shed doors. The doors were further deteriorated than I realized, so I need some additional repairs and haven't had a chance to install the latch yet. We have a family business that regularly uses furniture grade hardware. This piece met my quality expectations and I especially appreciate that it can be installed in 90 degree or 180 degree applications and look and function great either way.
