Greenworks 40V 2.5Ah Lithium-Ion Battery (Genuine Greenworks Battery / 75+ Compatible Tools)

Got it for the vacuum as the separate battery was cheaper than bundled. Go figure. Really doesn't last long at all, but 2.5 Ah is SMALL for 40 volts. Haven't tried it in my other tools but I know having used the 5Ah with the mower that I shouldn't bother. Nice backup for the 300w inverter though. Unsure about the new cheaper injection molded case, feels like it'll be on the brittle side if dropped.

This battery works as it should with the charger, and the charge light goes green when charge is complete. Plus it has a 3 year warranty. I use it with the blower and weed trimmer. This 2.5 Ah battery has more power that the 2.0 that came with my Greenworks power tools. I tried a non-greenworks cheap generic battery, but had to return it due to being defective.

I had previously purchased a non-greenworks battery (without realizing) for my Detatcher. Bad mistake! Generic batteries didn't fit properly and got stuck, causing the docking to break and voiding the device (detatcher warrant). Fast-forward few weeks after, I purchased two 40V batteries, they fit great. They are released without effort. They will not void your device warranties. Greenworks all the way!

The original batteries last much longer than the knockoffs sold in Amazon. I can't speak for this unit in particular since it is brand new but, other batteries a bought along the years always had longer life than the generic ones (had two). The original 2.0Ah that came with the mower lasted more than 6 years (1 of them, the other died at around 4). Never had generics last more than 3. That said, the price is still steep compared to the generics so, you may have to keep them in mind. Another aspect is the 'Ah inflation': I explain, the generics keep saying they are 4 or 5Ah but when you put them to use their 4Ah lasts just about the same time as this 2.5Ah so, it seems the measure it somewhat differently than Greenworks which something else to keep in mind.

This is my fifth Greenworks battery. The reason I bought this one is that it has a little more running time. Not sure why the name brand batteries cost more, but I always stick with the name brands. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for. Lithium batteries require responsible users, so compromising on price is off the table. Also interchangeability with other tools is also a factor to consider.

We use this for our cordless lawn blower. Charges fast, lasts through the whole job & then some. Love it and use it weekly!

Battery arrived with a partial charge so I used it on my weed eater to drain the battery down so I could put a full charge on it. When put in the charger it showed green and then immediately started flashing red. I pulled it off the charger and immediately checked if I had the correct battery for my charger and weed eater and it all was correct. I tried several times but it never stopped flashing red. The battery that came with the weed eater still works and recharges. To be honest, I have always used corded weed eaters and tried this battery one because it seemed the industry had made a large investment into battery technology. I think I’ll spend another $100 on a corded item before I trust another $100 defective battery. Not worth the hassle and frustration compared to pulling a cord around.

The new successor to the first-generation 40-v. electric batteries provides a useful button to determine at what level the batter is charged, during charging process (1 to 4 green or red lights). Batteries seem to last monger, as well and charge easily on typical 110 household outlets. Caution: remember, like the earlier series, manual recommends "recharging" every two months or so, when not in use (winter months, for most users)!
