Came in excellent condition no problems. Content of book excellent. It was a required book for school and I found it to be interesting and very educational. If you like education and the history of it you will enjoy this. If you want to buy this one I am done.

This book should be a must read for every American educator and future educator, as well as the people who set policy for education at every level in the United States. One of the best books I have ever read on education in America.

Spring's analytical approach provides a ton of information on the US educational system that leaves the reader well informed. A truly thought-provoking book that I would recommend for anybody who has an interest in education.

This should be required reading for all who aspire to be teachers. It guides one through the history of the development of American public schools. Fascinating story.

Excellent for my Spring 2012 class

I used this for a university class where we had some good discussions regarding education in American history. Some topics were new to me and eye-opening. Despite this, the point of view is very one-sided and the author seems to have a very clear agenda. I would not use this book for all facts and details regarding events.
