It's a HAND MIXER ON STETOIDS! LOVE IT!
For several years I have had a VERY heavy and large Kitchenaid stand mixer that I've used many many times over the years that has been great yet at the same time, for me, a pain in the ass! I do bake, on occasion, and I do cook pretty much daily but the Kitchenaid unit wasn't worthy of taking up that much counter space. And that thing is soooo heavy that, when I put it away in one of my lower, taller cabinets... I found myself deciding not to use it because I don't need a hernia! and opted to use my lightweight hand mixer sometimes to get the job done. But sometimes you want a good mixer to do the job. Ugh So I decided finally to do something about that and found this little beauty here on Amazon. I really love this mixer! It's much much lighter weight and smaller. And what I love even more is that you can take the top unit off and use it as a hand mixer if need be. I bought this in the blue color. It's perfect for me! And the price was fantastic! I think I paid like $50. It's actually small enough that I can leave it on the counter if I choose to but it's lightweight and I can easily put it away or retrieve it without hurting myself. Yeahhh!! I received this only just earlier today but washed all the components right away and put it straight to use on a cake mix. It works fantastic and has plenty of power for what I like to make. I did mess around with the settings and stuff. Runs great! I saw some reviews about some who didn't like that the beaters don't go to the bottom of the bowl. I understand that, but it's an easy fix to place a small plate underneath the bowl while your mixing if that's a problem for you. It does lift the bowl up just high enough. I checked it out, and that does work. The beaters are not that far up away from the bottom. Only slightly. Honestly I didn't need to do that I just used my spatula to scoop as always. I'm not a professional baker. I'm just a grandma who likes to bake sometimes. Now I will actually bake more because this mixer is so much more user-friendly!My husband has already gave me a list of things he wants me to make. And now, because of this wonderful mixer, I won't mind. I wish I had bought this a long time ago but I had felt obligated with that $400 Kitchenaid macine sitting there in my cabinet... kept me from buy something like this. Like I would be a traitor or something. I'm selling my Kitchenaid machine and keeping this one! We'll see as time goes by how well this machine stands up. From what I can tell now it should last me a long time. It's well made and has great attachments. The mixing bowl is big enough for regular sized stuff like cake mixes or the like. I hope my review helps you if your on the fence. I mean, what's not to like? It's a great little machine and sturdy. If you're baking huge batches of cookies for the whole neighborhood all the time or for a business I doubt this would ever come close to what you need. Because this is your average light use mixer. If you're like me and you just whip up a cake or some homemade goodies sometimes, definitely get this! Even for stuff like whipping egg whites, this will be great! Now I'm excited again about making things I haven't made for a long time. It's great!

Decent mixer!
I bake several times a week and refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on any appliance, especially when the task can be done by hand. That said, as I get older my hands are becoming weaker so Ive been using mixers more. I choose to replace the more affordable appliances every four or five years after I've gotten my use out of them rather than be stuck with the same model. Through the years I've noticed that ceramic coated mixer attachments tend to chip and scratch (and that grosses me out), and replacements for the off brand models are almost impossible to match up. As I shopped I realized almost every stand mixer comes with these coated attachments but what I really need is stainless steel attachments, which are widely available on hand mixers. This particular one is nice because it has the option to use a stand and includes bread hooks. When I used it for the first time I didn't realize, until I unboxed it, that the bread hooks should not be used in combination with the stand, which is kind of why I bought it but that's OK. It ended up working out great, I don't mind holding the mixer while it kneads the dough and I was actually able to get at the dough more thoroughly than using a stand mixer because I could move the beaters through the dough rather than the dough moving around the beaters which I never gave much thought to but it kneaded way better and my dough proofed twice as fast and big, kneading about 8 minutes, with the hand mixer compared to when I used a stand. Once I saw the results I was super pleased with the purchase. I did not use the bowl provided as its a tad too small (and cheap feeling) for making bread, it also doesn't have a handle which is essential for me to use with the hand mixer for optimal control. I can still use it for smaller things like frosting or a two layer cake, I dont think I'd put more than 3 cups of ingredients into it. Im happy with the mixer and the price, I paid $50 and it seems like a good product for that amount. I'll most likely use it up until the motor burns out, and even then the bowl can still be used for other things. I would estimate I'll get a few years out of it and for me thats perfect.

5 Attachments, not nine
The first thing I did when I unpacked this mixer is put it together. It is pretty intuitive. It’s not brain surgery., Easy to figure out where the tilt buttons are, blade release, etc. The first thing I cooked with it was egg whites to make a meringue. However, the nine egg whites I used were not tall enough for the blade to reach in the bowl that came with it. I used a small Correlle Super Bowl and it worked OK. Once it could reach the eggs, it was a no-brainer to whip them. I appreciate it being on a stand so I could let it continue. Whipping the eggs while I set the oven temperature. I am downsizing to this smaller mixer from a very heavy(50+lbs) heavy-duty mixer. By comparison, the frame feels pretty fragile, so I will have to take care not to break it. I can tell the weak point is going to be the tilt feature. The motor seems fine, and it whipped egg whites with no problem, but I would not make a heavy dough with this, because it would probably burn out the motor. The manual has a two minutetime limit for how long it should run on its quick burst setting. I would not use this for heavy dough. That won’t be a problem for me since I have given up breads and starches. I noticed when unpacking it, there were places for more attachments than it came with. Later, when I looked at the manual, it did talk about two different types of blades that were not included in the model that I got. Apparently they use the same manual and same machine with another type of dough hook, and another type of standard wire blade. I double checked the Amazon website to see that the three types of attachments that are listed are the ones that are included. Hamilton Beach ought to hire a proofreader and take out the part about those extra blades being included, cause I almost got a phone call from me over it. I hope it lasts.

Terrible product and fire hazard
Worst product and poorly made. You need three hands to use this! First time using it for a small amount of dough on the recommended speed. The stand mixer doesn’t lock down into place it slowly goes up until there is no contact with the dough so you push it down with one hand. The utensils are not in the middle it’s off the side of the bowl so you use another hand to constantly scrape the middle and sides so everything gets mixed. The bowl doesn’t spin so you need to grow a third arm to spin the bowl for even mixing. Worst of all the first time using it had a burning smell (the motor) and I had to take it outside because the smell was so bad.

Feels cheap But does the Work!
Everything about this feels cheap. The bowl is a nice decent size but the attachments don’t reach the entire bowl with the standstill holder, you’ll have to use it as a hand mixer to get to every area of the bowl. It’s a good starting mixer for beginner bakers like myself. Easy to clean, easy to assemble, and simple to use. Will probably upgrade sometime in the future. Been using it regularly for almost half a year now and it’s held up well.
