Just right
I was looking for a way to mince ginger regularly to make ginger tea, then had the idea that maybe I could save a lot of chopping by just smashing it. This pounder works great for this application. It's heavy, easily controllable, and the handle is very comfortable. I'm very happy with it.

This is heavy!
This works really well to flatten meat. Handle is long enough to be comfortable to hold but be warned, it's heavier than I expected. I'm used to using a tenderizer hammer and this is much heavier which is probably why it flattens so well. This will not fall apart. Very well made. Dishwasher safe.
