Excellent, easy to use tool.
I tired other "sniffers" that were just completely worthless. This tool is very simple to operate and conclusively confirms whether there is a gas leak--and if so, where it is coming from. The variable response alert system shows the intensity of any leak, or even better, no leak at all. It is very clear, thereby imparting full confidence in the results.(Because it showed I did not have a leak at the time, I tested this by opening an unlit gas burner and "searched" for it. It worked perfectly.)An invaluable, easy too use tool for all-important peace of mind. Highly recommend.

Works well and I trust Klein quality
There are very expensive professional level meters and a bunch of inexpensive Chinese meters out there. I don't need the pro tool and I don't trust the inexpensive one. I've been buying Klein tools for decades and they always perform well.I bought this because the gas alarm goes off in our travel trailer every once in a while and I want to find what the problem is. This came today and I tried it on the kitchen gas stove and on the NG BBQ outside. It seems that the high sensitivity setting is very sensitive and responsive. I turned on a burner in the trailer and it immediately went off. I opened the door and held the wand outside and up high and it went off. I brought it back inside and set it beside the burner (which was off) and it was still alerting with fast beeping and five bars. I went to the bedroom and turned on the fantastic fan which sucked air in the open door by the kitchen and exhausted it out the roof. After 15 seconds it dropped a bar and started beeping slower. After a minute the gas was exhausted and it stopped alerting. This seems to be an excellent product and is easy to use.

Excellent detector from a pro-level company
Klein Tools also makes a pen style detector but I did not need one that fits in a shirt pocket. So I went with the full-sized user interface and gooseneck. The gooseneck was convenient for some spots. I read a lot of reviews where no detection occurs so I tested it in a safe way and it detected immediately on a tiny amount of natural gas at the most sensitive setting. I think people blast the device with a ton of gas when testing and maybe that overloads it. Detection range is in a range measured in parts per MILLION so keep that in mind.Anyway, Klein Tools is an old top of the line company and I would go with them. The price is reasonable. Very easy to use and read what is going on. It’s very much an important tool to have to keep things safe.

Sensitive
I use this gas leak detector at work, and it performs very well. It is easy to use, highly sensitive, and quickly detects gas leaks. The alarm is loud and clear, which helps improve safety on the job. It’s compact, reliable, and a great tool for professional use. I definitely recommend it.

What a great nose this thing has!
I had an outdoor gas leak that I could not locate. My cheap gas detector registered nothing, when I could clearly smell gas. I purchased this unit and put it to work. Much better sensitivity, it clearly registered flammable gas when I could even faintly smell it. With a little patience, walking around the area, I was able to zoom in on sections with multiple bars and a louder audible pitch. I zeroed in to a section of pipe where I got maxed out readings and found a worn area of the pipe that was leaking. A little more expensive, but worth it, it works well.

Easy to use
Had a natural gas leak that came and went. Many people trying to find where it was coming from but to no avail. I took a shot with this thinking that maybe this device would get me in the vicinity. I have had a few Klein tools and have had no issue with any of them. This worked flawlessly. As instructed, I set the meter to high sensitivity and walked through the 1800 sq ft open space. Turns out, an adjacent room was where the leak was located coming from the 1.5" mainline coming into the building from the meter. The leak was inside the block wall. Without this meter, there is no way I could have found it in a brick wall. After making the repairs, I tested the area again. No leak, no smell. So thankful that the tool was affordable and that our facility is safe.

Great tool, but there's a learning curve
We had bought a new house, and I kept thinking I sometimes caught a whiff of natural gas when I walked through the laundry area. I knew there was a capped off gas line behind the electric dryer. Natural gas is serious business so I got this detector, read the instructions, and started sniffing around. I found there was a leak, but not behind the dryer. It was the gas cutoff valve for the fireplace close by. My nose up against the valve confirmed this. I had a licensed plumber come and replace the valve. After finishing I tested the valve again and a small amount registered. The plumber said the detector was defective. I kept testing after the plumber left and the results slowly went back to zero after about 30 minutes. I figured that, at as low as 50 ppm, some very small amounts of whatever the detector detects linger for some time before total absence. Over the next couple of days I worked the valve and retested and it always registered zero. For something this expensive I wish the sensor lasted more that five to seven years.

Great gas leak tester.
Only complaint I have with this, is the calibration takes 30 seconds outdoors but other than that it’s been working well for home inspections. Sensitivity on this is very dialed in as well.

Flat batteries
A little disappointed to find that the batteries that came with the unit were flat and wouldn’t power the unit. Once batteries were changed everything was fine.

Piece of mind - works a treat, highly accurate, esp when locating in a line/ appliance. Excellent.
I had to weigh up getting in a gas professional to diagnose severity and location of a possible leak and buying this product.. I did the latter, because I was not prepared to wait. I'm glad I did - old gas oven was leaking past 10mill PPM. Turned off at the mains. No other leaks. Really glad I bought into the tool and took care of it myself. I also appeciate having low or high sensitivity. Only criticism would be I'd like a high PPM for the big leak, but really trivial when it's designed for finding small leaks, more than anything.

No Tech support
Have used the gas tester to locate leaks however the tester can give false readings at times depending on the setting of the Auto Zero calibration button. If the device is left to self calibrate on startup, it can give a constant low level reading throughout the whole house. The detector head is also sensitive to heat and if you cup your hand over the sensor it will start to show low level gas. So if you calibrate in outside clean air where it is cooler, it can give a false low level reading when you bring it in to a room that is warm. If you push the Auto Zero button on startup (Auto Zero light now off) it will still calibrate but now there are no false readings. Raised this issue with Klein Technical Support but after 8 weeks with no technical response despite constant follow up, I can only assume Klein has no clue as to why the issues happen as they simply rebadge a genetic Chinese made tester.
