In hindsight the pardon was a mistake.
I enjoyed this book very much. However I don't understand how a man could become president of the United States even though he was selected by the Congress because of Nixon ' s impeachment. I don't buy the I did the right thing excuse for pardoning Nixon. There is a more important principal then avoiding a long drawn out trial and letting Nixon off with out admitting any guilt. That principal is that not even the president of the United States can break the law. Look what is happening now with Obama if that doesn't prove that pardoning Nixon was a mistake what does? The Congress is afraid to do there job because of the politics of the issue. I found the book very informative. Thank you Kevin Kenney

excellent political biography
This book gave me an amazing new understanding of President Ford. When all of this was going on I was a 23 year old liberal who was outraged at Nixon's pardon. Mr. Cannon has given me a chance to know what a mistake it was that President Ford never was voted into office but President Carter was. Oh but to be able to go back and change my vote! While I did detect a few mistakes in the editing of this book they were not all that significant and not very distracting. Overall this was a great book. Sadly Mr. Cannon was unable to include a bibliography and an index due to his passing. Perhaps future editions will be able to include them.

A good, albeit biased biography of Gerald Ford
A good, albeit biased biography of Gerald Ford. Good, because James Cannon had a lot of access to Ford during his presidency, and therefore saw the many sides of this complex man. Biased, because he is an apologist for many of Ford's failed conservative programs, and his handling of the economy during the crucial time of the early to middle '70's. All in all, a good read in my opinion. Anytime you learn something new about a POTUS is time well spent.

Great read
Great biological read. I got a deeper insight in Fords life all through congress, the vice-presidentency, and his presidency. Many of my questions were answered from the witness who served in his administration.

Ford and the truth about Watergate.
The real truth about the Watergate scandal and Nixon's involvement from the beginning are revealed in this historical revelation of one of the darkest period of America's hlstory. A revealing tale of what really takes place when the politicians make their deals in the smoke filled back rooms, thinking only of their own agendas. The nation was indeed fortunate to have to have a Patriot such as Ford to put it back togerher.

FORD - CLASS ACT
Tremendous book !!! This book captures the essence of President Ford as a man, and a President. Sadly, in many ways it describes a standard that very few politicians can emulate today. I wish our leaders and leaders to come would read the book. It sets a GREAT example of human behavior as well as presidential leadership.
