are the gears inside plastic or metal, and is it made in USA or China. this question is about the Kitchen-aid Artisan mixer

the gears are metal, as for the mixer itself I am unsure but the stainless steal bowl says its made in India, so the mixer might be partially or entirely made there.

Are the gears inside metal or nylon(plastic) on these mixers?

There is a mix of metal and nylon/plastic gears in the Aristan line models. It makes the mixer quieter that the Pro 600 line, but obviously that makes a difference in it's ability to handle extremely heavy duty work. I've confirmed this information with Kitchenaid Customer Service as of November 19, 2014. They absolutely confirm that there ARE nylon/plastic gears in the Artisan line. I'm not saying it's an inferior model, just different.

What's the power in watts?

325 watts. My 30 year old kitchen aid has 350 watts and it is a very strong mixer. I wouldn't want any more power. I usually run it on medium unless I'm whipping cream or egg whites. It's the best

Is this 5 quart a 325 watt or 300 watt?

It's a 5 quart and isn't nearly as sturdy as my 50 year old 4.5 qt bowl. It's a 325 Watt. I'll also add the the 'buttons' that are on the speed adjustment and "up/down" for the head aren't 'round' - a really silly design - have a slot in the button so it is very uncomfortable to use them. I planned to put a little bit of duct tape around them to make them 'smoother'. Just big and little things that are ridiculous for what was a wonderful machine years ago.
