Lehman's Manual Stovetop Popcorn Popper, Stainless Steel Popcorn Maker with Stirring Rod, No Measuring Needed, Doubles as Cooking Pot

I've been trying to make good kettle corn at home, but was having a problem with burnt sugar at the bottom just using the "lift and shake" or "swirl" method in a regular pot. I knew the problem was keeping the kernels moving in the oil and sugar mixture, and there are other poppers that can do that, but I needed something that worked on induction which the others don't work with or are very expensive. This popper is the best I could find for a reasonable price that does the job. The only thing I don't like very much is you have to be a bit careful lifting the lid as the mixing rod slips through the hole in the lid and can be a bit jarring if you lift it too quickly. I'm also a bit concerned about the longevity of the mechanism based on other reviews, but I've done several batches and so far so good!

Upon trying an Automatic Popcorn Maker which gradually declined in performance after 10 batches or so, I decided to go back to the Stovetop method. This produced the resolution I was looking for, BUT ... shaking the pan over the gas burner during the popping cycle was scratching the bottom of the pan. I decided to try Lehman's Manual Stovetop Popper. I cannot express how impressed I am. It made a perfect batch of popcorn on the second attempt [the first try produced a good batch, but unfortunately some kernels burned on the bottom and was a challenge to scrub clean afterward]. For the second batch, I added a bit more Oil [I use Organic Avocado Oil ordered from Whole Foods] and ensured I let it warm up before swirling the oil to coat the entire bottom and up the sides a bit. I then coated the bottom with a layer of Kernels as directed. Once it began to pop [within about 2 minutes or so on medium heat], I began turning the crank. The vent holes on the lid let just enough steam to escape to ensure a crispy batch of perfectly popped kernels. No burned Kernels at all. The Pot and Lid are easy to clean {sans burned kernels from the first attempt]. It makes a huge batch of Popcorn [about the same amount or more as a large tub at your local theater]. I don't apply butter, but drop half the batch into a large bowl and season with Butter Flavor Powder [Vegan and Low Calorie] and Truffle Salt, then add the remaining kernels from the pot and repeat seasoning. This addictive batch of perfectly popped and seasoned popcorn makes TV time at home pure heaven! If you love your popcorn and are seeking a popper that actually works as advertised ... look no further. This is the one!

Great popper, well made, all corn kernels popped and easy to use,

its a stainless steel pot, but not multilayer stainlesss, which is fine for popcorn and its not too heavy. Pops great, only drawback is the stirring rod that mounts to the lid has a nut and bolt combo. The nut has a tendency to get loose fairly easily and has to be tighten after each use. Doesn't affect pop quality or stirring function, but the handle gets a little loose. I would still recommend this product. Easy to use and clean (get barkeepers friend if you have any stainless cookware). Makes movie theater popcorn like a champ.

I ordered this to replace my aging WhirlyPop popper. The design of this popper is superior to the WhirlyPop in my opinion. The WhirlyPop has no handles on the base, so you have to hold the top lid closed with one hand as you pour the popped corn into the bowl holding the handle on the lid, and the lid always flops open sending popped kernels everywhere. With the Lehman's popper, you simply remove the glass lid and use the two handles on the base to easily pour out the popped corn. The popcorn pops quickly, and as the directions indicate, no measuring is necessary. I do have a couple of minor issues with the Lehman popper. As some of the others have noted, the screw and nut holding the center stirring wand continually comes loose and you have to tighten it every time you use the popper. Also, the rod that stirs the corn does not touch the bottom even though the directions indicate that it does. It sits about 1/4 inch above the base. Others have said their poppers have a rod that touches, but there may have been some recent design or production changes. I contacted customer support who said the stirring wand on the popper they had there did not touch, and I even tried a replacement. The replacement rod came closer to the bottom but still did not thoroughly stir the unpopped corn. However, it's easy enough to just shake the popper to coat the oil on the kernels before you start, and once the kernels start popping, the stirrer works just fine. All in all, despite a few design shortcomings, I am pleased with the popper.

A good way to make pop corn

Not everyone uses Oil and I am truly disappointed. I love popcorn and so does my Parrot. This Popper I played around with several batches and the first recipe 3 TBS Oil, Butter or whatever, plus 1/3rd cup of Popcorn was a few bowls full of soggy scortched popcorn at best. The second batch was double and the same only double the Scortched Batch. It should have been 3TBS of Oil or Butter to 2/3 cup of popcorn and then you would have gotten a family size bowl. My real turn off was the butter being scortched. I may have just gotten used to eating dry popcorn with butter poured later after popped, but it made me sick cooked in butter. The salt in the butter cooking it that way had a bite to it. There was no butter or salt later necessary. It just didn't taste right. So the birds outside have a treat for tomorrow. Guess I will get just the regular air popper and pour butter over the popcorn. Too bad. I envisioned the popcorn the way us kids used to have it over the stove shaken back and forth the burner, with butter and popcorn unmeasured. I honestly thought this would be similar, but it wasn't. You just can't cook it in butter like this. The butter scorches. I don't believe in hydrogenated oils or partial oils or whatever. I want the real thing. Also the nuts were not tightened which could have caused a problem. Some of the liquid did come out as popping, not just steam. I think even the whirly poppers would be similar to this. So I will go back to the air popper. It is healthier and you can regulate the butter, oils or whatever you decide to use. So I'm returning tomorrow. I tried to like it. I normally fight returns, but it is policy now on Amazon, so in that case, this is to big of an expense to just throw away being unhappy about it. The UPS is one hour drive from my place. Think first before you buy. I would not recommend and Amazon is taking over a lot of the shipping now.

I really like the deep pot which doubles as a stock pot. It does consistently make good popcorn and I use it almost every day. It is easy to clean. The lid is definitely not great. The steam vent holes are exactly where the inside of your wrist will be when stirring; I have to hold a kitchen towel over one of the holes. If you stir in one direction for very long, the knob unscrews and falls off. And, the two thick metal washers that support the handle where it goes through the lid must be hand-tightened just about every time since they unscrew with use.

Love this so much! No more micro plastic popcorn. Super easy to make popcorn with this as well. So far we have made popcorn using a gas stove and electric stove, both worked perfect fine. This is absolutely worth the money

Amazon is the only place that will ship this to the UK, so I had to order it form here. However I was sent a defective, used popcorn maker, which is a bit rude for £68. Instead of the round, presumably stainless steel nuts pictured that hold the handle in place, mine just had standard hex nuts, which would no doubt rust if you washed them, and may not be food safe. You could see that the pan had been used, as there were scratches on the bottom of it, and it also had a dent on its base. So now I have to send it back across the Atlantic and order a new one, so a total waste of CO2 as well. Couldn't I just have been sent a new one in the first place, as expected/ordered?!

This pot is not good on induction stoves - way too light and burns badly!
