The Best Paper Mario Game in the Last 13 Years!
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is not only the best "Mario & Luigi" title on the Nintendo 3DS system (compared to 2013's Dream Team and 2015's Paper Jam), but it's also the best traditional Paper Mario game we've gotten since 2004's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Superstar Saga has all the elements of classic Paper Mario -- a turn-based battle system, action commands, different attacks/abilities, unique original characters and enemies, addictive music, a good story and funny dialogue. It's a shame that Kensuke Tanabe and the Intelligent Systems team can't get their act together with the Paper Mario franchise, because unlike them, AlphaDream clearly knows what the Mario & Luigi fans want when it comes to a turn-based Mario RPG.If you miss the way Paper Mario used to be, before Tanabe wrecked the franchise with Sticker Star and Color Splash, then try out Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga -- you won't be disappointed. The added Bowser's Minions part is like a separate full story in and of itself, so it's like you're getting 2 full games for the price of one. And let me say, the way the Bowser's Minions part is set up, it's just like having traditional Paper Mario partners in a sense, being able to choose your own team of allies, each with their own unique attacks, strengths and special abilities, like having a Paratroopa or a Pokey, or even a Lakitu on your team. The only downside is that I wish Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga had been released on the Nintendo Switch instead, so I could play the game in 1080p HD on my 60" plasma television instead of on the small screen of the 3DS itself. In March 2018, the Nintendo 3DS will be 7 years old, which means it will be considered a legacy device at the end of its life-cycle. This has been confirmed as well, with Game Freak having announced that Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are the final core Pokémon titles on the 3DS. That being said however, I do understand why AlphaDream chose to remake the original Superstar Saga instead of creating a brand new 3rd Mario & Luigi title for the 3DS. It's faster to remake an old game than to create a brand new one with a new unique story from scratch, so remaking Superstar Saga actually lets AlphaDream move on quicker, and focus their development team and resources into creating a brand new Mario & Luigi title on the Switch instead. Still though, we won't get to see it until 2019 at the earliest, which is disappointing, but at least we know it is on its way.

Super fun!
I have always wanted to play this game and I’m happy I went ahead and bought it! The product came in safely and the game plays well. The graphics of the remake is very lively and vibrant, although I miss the charm of the original’s style.Other than that, it’s definitely worth the play.

Way better (comparing the original GBA version)
This game is not only fun, it even showed some differences between the 3DS and the GBA versions (even though I have never played the GBA version). I even gotten further into the side stories of the other characters in the "Bowser's Minions" story plot.

If you liked the original and want to replay it
If you liked the original and want to replay it, or you've never played the original but like the series, I recommend getting the game. The biggest advantage for me is being able to play one of my favorite GBA games on the handheld system I actually use instead of my old DS or GBA.It's a pretty faithful remake of the original. The most major changes are obviously to the graphics, which look really good overall(though thunderhand looks worse now in my opinion). I was disappointed by some of the music remasters, but the soundtrack is still good. The new mode, Bowser's Minions, is mind numbingly boring. The game consists of baddies running at each other with minimal player intervention followed by lots of dialogue. I only played the first few battles, but it was incredibly boring and didn't seem worth continuing. The core gameplay involves walking around maps and using special moves to navigate to different areas. Battles are turn based, but the player needs well timed button presses both on attack and defense. Battles have always been the most fun part of these games for me, it's engaging to master the special moves and to dodge incoming damage. The game is light on story, but that just means you're playing the game most of the time instead of having to read things. In a game series as silly as this one, I prefer that to endless Starlow exposition found in later entries. The game is kinda short, I think I took around 15 hours to play all the way through it. In addition to the main game though, there are a variety of minigames that can be mastered that I think are a lot of fun.Gameplay changes(that I noticed):There are some changes that I found strange and some changes that I wish had been made. The woo bean drop rate was decreased and the once common bean was the one I usually found myself with the least of. This sucks because you need woo beans for half the brews and you have to grind for them. The cafe requires fewer beans per brew which is both good and bad. On one hand you can get the brews earlier and more often, but on the other it takes forever to spend beans.A minimap has been added which is helpful. The selection of over world moves is also different now. Instead of using select to switch brothers and then using L and R to go through them, all the attacks are in one series that you go through with the L and R buttons. You can also use the touchscreen to select moves. It takes a little longer than it used to to use the shoulder buttons, but it's easier to find the moves and the touchscreen is a fast selection method.Special moves can now be practiced and the Advanced versions are completely separate attacks. This removes the mystery of how to do the advance moves as the game tells you the new button order and lets you practice, which is good because I never figured out most of the advance moves in the original. The 3 setting for the moves are now gone, there is now just a normal version and an easier version, which costs more BP.They removed the pause menu for Star 'Stache Smash which tells you the point values (why?) and they changed the music :(Bink is no longer a DK skeleton (why? it made sense with the barrels)Some enemy stats have changed, I can't tell you much about that, but I noticed Jojora no longer has 999 defense(though its still high). There are new clothing, badge, and special items added. While cool, in a game so short I barely used any of the items I got and stuck only upgraded/changed each brother's stuff 3 or 4 times through the game. The new special items are cool, but for some reason they weren't able to give them unique icons like the items in the original(the original items have remastered icons and all the others are little chests). The amount of money you get has been upped as has the amount of coins you can have overall. I don't think they changed item prices to compensate, and between cheap items and enemy drops, I always had enough items and am now swimming in coins with nothing to really buy.The look of some things has changed, The color of breakable rocks now matches the color of the hammer (black rocks are broken by normal hammer, silver by super hammer, gold by ultra hammer). The big koopas that you knock over now look like giant normal koopas instead of their unique look. There are fewer variety of Toad and the hypnotist is a Toad instead of a Namek now.

Was Seriously worried.
Based on all the one star reviews I was so worried that I would get a world verison of M&L that I wouldn't be able to play due to the reigon lock but thankfully even though the box is a world edition I still got the North American version.

Amazing game!
(Review as someone playing this as their first M&L game)I didn't expect to find this game so fun and engaging! The dialogues are so entertaining and the humor can be enjoyed by anyone. Tbh I can't get enough of it!I've read opinions on people complaining on the art direction of this remake. Since I never played the original, I don't have much to compare to, but I can say the graphics, imo, look great and fit really well with this game.I'm glad I'm finally trying this game and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to play the M&L series for the first time.

Spoilt Christmas.
Bought this for my daughter for Christmas but it wasn't until Christmas Day that we found out the game was just for the United States and therefore my daughter couldn't play it and it was too late to exchange it. No clear indication when purchasing that it wasn't for Uk or European use.
