These continue to be the best knives I've ever owned
A couple months ago, Zelite wowed me with their chef's knife, which is the highest quality, sharpest, and most beautiful knife I've ever owned. I have been eagerly waiting for them to release more knives from this line, so as soon as I found out that they now have a bread knife and a santoku knife, I bought them both without hesitation. The first thing I noticed about this knife was how heavy it is. It feels solid in the hand, and the contour of the handle makes it very comfortable to hold. The second thing I noticed was how sharp it is. The day it arrived, my husband came home with a crusty baguette -- the kind that I normally wrestle with, using our old Henckels bread knife. This Zelite bread knife is no joke! It sliced through that baguette like it was nothing, so I decided to try just pushing straight down on the baguette (vs using a sawing motion) to see what would happen. To my surprise, it cut clean through. It didn't squish it, I didn't have to bear down on the back of the blade with the palm of my other hand, there was no cracking and crumbling of the crust, it was just a nice, clean, effortless cut. I then tried just pushing the blade straight down on a soft, ripe tomato, and again, it cut clean through without squishing it. Like the chef's knife, the bread knife comes beautifully boxed. I have a few friends who are getting married this year, and I plan on giving these bread knives as gifts because a) whether they cook or not, everyone needs a good bread knife, b) these knifes speak to a standard of quality that is getting exceedingly hard to come by, and c) I know they will be used often and for a lifetime, if not for generations. Yes, these knives are that extraordinary.

A Perfect Score!!! I am in Love with this Knife!
I am very excited to leave feedback on these knives! I have taken adequate time to get familiarized with this manufacturer and I have been using and loving their products... The quality of the product, price, speed of delivery and attentiveness of the seller are all outstanding. I must start by telling you that I was NOT paid to write this review and that I have purchased the full set of these knives at full price. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. At this point I own the entire set and I have purchased multiples of the serrated 5.5” utility because it is the best feeling steak knife I’ve ever put my hands on. I am a 2nd year culinary student and aspiring Chef. I have a Mercer Knife roll that we use in class and although I do like it, there is much to be desired. I decided to purchase the Zelite Damascus 8" Chef's knife for myself (to use at home) and was beyond pleased with it. I then ordered the Santoku, Utility and Serrated Utility knives on amazon. Followed by that I purchased the Boning, Paring and Bread Knives - along with an additional 5.5 serrated utility (it’s my favorite) I will point out that I was apprehensive about ordering the first knife due to some peoples voiced concerns about the manufacturing in the PRC. Personally - My concern is only in buying a knock off or counterfeit item and in owning an inferior product. I was also concerned that the "Made in China" stamp would be on the knife, which would have been undesirable. If I were buying in person and able to physically see the quality in this product there would never have been any hesitation in purchasing it. The Product is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! – My hesitation was strictly due to bad past experiences with buying online, which Is also why I purchased this product off of Amazon. I knew the risk was minimized. I sure am glad I did. After receiving the first knife (Chef’s Knife) I immediately was in love with the quality and I ordered the rest of the available set. I absolutely love the Set – It is Fantastic!! I'm loving the knives - I am almost addicted to them. I keep buying buying buying them! I couldn't help but to purchase the whole set. I am very happy with the quality of the knives, the customer service and the shipping time/method. I took the time to pass on the word because not only am I very hard to please and quite demanding on the tools that I use- I am a small business owner myself and I truly understand the value of positive and correct feedback.

Good quality, but I wish they didn't embed the brand into the handle
I have several knives from this brand's Alpha Royal Japanese series that I bought back in 2018 that I love, including the 8" and 5" serrated knives. The quality is high and they've been very dependable and they are gorgeous knives, too. Since the pandemic I've been baking my own bread (like many people) and the only times I've bought commercial bread was during our last move when I didn't have a kitchen in which to make it. Anyway, some of the loaves I make are larger than my 8" knife can easily handle, so I decided to buy the 10". It arrived yesterday and I gave it a try and the blade is nice and sharp and the knife is comfortable to hold. It cut the bread well and accurately. The only thing I honestly don't like about this knife is the huge logo embedded into the handle on both sides. I think that detracts a lot from the attractiveness of the knife. I do prefer Alpha Royal style a lot more, so I deducted a star for the attractiveness of the knife. Function and value for the price I think is good here, so if the huge honking brand in the handle isn't a deal breaker for you, I think this knife is a good value.

My New Best Friend!!!
I am not a professional cook, but I do love cooking. Till now I have made do with a long series of "Really good knives!" none of which really suited me. Either they were clumsy, or they didn't keep an edge, or they just didn't do the job. I was particularly aggrieved with the bread knives I've had. They are all of similar construction, but they just won't do what I want. Either they can't go through an artisan crust or they crush the bread as they slice through. UNTIL NOW. From the moment I opened the Zelite Infinity box, I knew I had found my new best friend. This is no Big Box Store knife. This isn't even a Kitchen Gadget Specialty Store knife that costs twice as much. This is a real, honest, hefty, does-what-it's-made-for knife! I'm female, 65, with rather large hands but starting to feel the effects of age. Yet this knife felt like it was part of my hand as I used it. The weight was noticeably more substantial than other knives I have, but it was balanced so beautifully it actually was easier to use than the others, by far. It just sort of slides through the bread with no effort from me. And let me just say, for fun, that something about the squiggly pattern all over the blade (from multiple foldings of the steel) gives me such aesthetic satisfaction! I am now planning to replace all my knives with products from this manufacturer. The price-point is, I believe, quite reasonable for the quality. Some have complained that this was made in China, but I can only respond that the company must be exercising amazing quality control. Do I like it? You bet!!!

This!!!!!
I love these knives!!! First let me say, I’m a review librarian. I read tons of reviews before I buy anything. I compare. I shop value and I shop amazing products. I’m an avid cook, a foodie. I’m not a chef. I have rubbermade takeout containers in my kitchen and I have French hand crafted cookware. I spend money on things I love and things that will last. 2 years ago when I got married, my husband picked out an inexpensive set of knives in a block. They cut things, but over time I’ve grown a serious hate for them. Being in the kitchen is music to my soul, but with bad knives, it’s been less fun for real. We have 2 kitties that I’ve decided to make homemade food for, which consists of chopping a lot of meat- with bones. It takes me a ton of time because of my crappy knives. I researched Amazon (because I love Amazon) and found tons of amazing reviews for Zelite. So, I ordered the cleaver, the chef’s knife and 2 5.5 inch serrated for steak night. I did buy crynomore gloves for when I have to chop the meat for the kitties- just in case because I heard these knives were very SHARP. Yesss, very much so. Also, as the reviews state, these are awesomely packaged in a box that you can store them in if you don’t plan to use them often. I read about installing a magnet to hang your knives on. I went to Target today to buy one, and it actually has to be installed with screws and we have a backsplash and we rent. So, the other option was that they sell a big in drawer knife holder. It holds 6 big knives and 4 small knives for 12$, so I got that instead. The magnet strip is 14$. Both found at Target. These will last us forever. I’ll definitely be buying the larger serrated knife and more steak knives in case of company. Can’t say enough great things about these knives! Honestly, at first I was going to buy the top dollar ones from this same company, but decided to go with the 40-60$ range instead to see if I like them. Definitely great quality and I’ll never have to buy the 200$ versions for what I do.

The Best Bread Knife-By Zelite!
I usually don't write detailed reviews but I have to do a knife of this quality it's justice and say more than simply it's a '5-star product': -Beautiful Damascus Pattern! The G10 handle makes it resistant to all types of environmental hazards -I LOVE that it's Rust &Stain Resistant -This knife makes me FEEL like a home master cheft! This Knife is Just Absolutely Beautiful and I am very happy and proud of my purchase!

Outstanding Value
I have 3 Zelite knives. To be clear, these are not "Japanese knives", they are Chinese knives made with Japanese blades. I also have a Chinese knife made with a German blade, but that's another story (though it's also an excellent knife). I have seen comments about this brand and others sold on Amazon that these are "fake" or "copies of" Japanese knives, which is really in the eye of the beholder. Here's how I see it: The part of the knife that you use and maintain, i.e. the blade and its cutting edge, are Japanese and of a very high level of performance. Goods of Chinese manufacture are often characterized as "cheap" or "mass-produced" and in many (most?) cases that's true. But let's also remember that Asian cultures have been blacksmithing for at least 3,000 years. 2,000-2,500 year-old Chinese swords have been found intact by archaeologists that were still so sharp that they drew blood upon discovery. So the notion that Chinese manufacture of cutlery is arbitrarily a low-grade enterprise is a false premise. I've had my 8" Chef's knife for two years, this one for a year. All of them clean, sharpen and hold an edge as well as the $200+ Japanese knives I also have in my block (Shun). For less than $70, this knife compares favorably to others that cost $150 or more and that's not an exaggeration. Same with the Chef's and slicing blades I have - I'd say value is on the order of 30-40¢ to the dollar compared with premium Japanese products that utilize Damascus (layered) forging. I can probably afford to spend more, but I honestly don't feel as if I have to. The thing that I actually like better about the Zelites is their heft: between the solid tang and weighted handle, plus the fuller size and shape of the handle, these knives actually feel better in hand than do Shun. Leverage of this slicer and especially my 8" chef is perfect; I've seen a complaint from one buyer about the knife being handle-heavy so I think that may be a subjective preference. I have small hands for a guy, so I find the feel to be just right (if you're a knife nerd, the balance point is where the handle material meets the bolster, which isn't all much out of balance for the length of these blades.) I am especially pleased at how well my straight blades sharpen with just a few swipes on my ceramic rod - they're easy to keep EXTREMELY sharp if you have skills with sharpening rods or steels. This one, the serrated edge, has required NO maintenance since I bought it, just cleaning. Every one has their preferences; I use it primarily on mushrooms, tomates and smaller loaves of bread. These knives perform remarkably well - I'm not a pro but a an experienced enthusiast - and these blades work well enough for pros and are more than adequate for amateur cooks. In fact, for people who don't have good knife skills, these might be TOO sharp.

Good for crusty bread, pineapples, winter squash, more
I bought this serrated knife to use for more than just bread. It’s heavier than many bread knives, which makes it perfect for produce with tough exteriors and soft interiors, such as pineapples and winter squash. It also slices crusty bread thin without crushing it. It’s a good size for larger/round loaves and fits easily in my drawer knife holder. The only thing it was too heavy for, and as a consequence crushed, was a round sweet Hawaiian loaf with a very soft crust. It seems to be of good quality, cleans up nicely, and is attractive, too. I recommend this knife as a useful addition to standard kitchen chef, paring, and slicing knives (of which I have a variety).

Bread: Be afraid. Be very afraid.
This bread knife is sharper than a serpent's tooth and just as thankless if you treat it with disrespect, as it will bite unless handled well. So sharp. Another superb knife from Zelite. Well balanced and razor-edged. As beautiful to look at as it is to hold and use, and packaged in a quality box that just begs to be given as a gift. Not a chance, I'm keeping mine. Hands off. I baked a loaf today and, rather than let it cool as you should, I sliced it straight from the oven. This would typically result in a bit of a mess, but this knife cut through the hard crust and the still steaming interior without a problem. It is that sharp. I now have all four of Zelite Infinity's knives currently available in the UK from Amazon (hopefully more of their range heading this way soon from across the pond.) My first was the 4" paring to replace a much loved but worn out 4" Gustav Emil that I've had and used professionally and domestically for 30 years, and when I bought the Zelite I thought Wow, this is special. So I then ordered the 8" Chef and the 7" Santoku and received a 5% discount on the Amazon site, and because I had already bought three knives and reviewed them, I was then offered a £15 discount on this bread knife from the very nice person at Zelite, also known as Sam. So I had to buy it to make up the set. This discount in no way affected my practical opinion of the knife and was not received as an acceptance that I should write a review. To date there is an offer available; if you buy two, three or all four together Zelite offer various incremental discounts, so don't miss out on this before it is gone. The 8" Bread Knife is another spectacular knife of top quality and I thoroughly recommend it, as I do all the knives I have bought from Zelite. I have not used better in my 35 years of food preparation and cooking in hotels, restaurants and at home. Nuff said.

Not real Damascus steel
I’m very disappointed. The Damascus pattern is printed, there are no layers in the steel itself. I will return this knife.

best knife ever!!!
I did the research as I wanted high quality Japanese blade, stainless steel kitchen knives that will last and I read all the reviews (it's very reassuring that chefs use these knives) and bit the bullet in buying this 5.5" utility knife along with the straight blade 6" chef knife and both are fabulous. I wanted a good all-rounder for prepping veggies for roast dinners, cutting up fruit and everything else. The packaging is amazing quality as well as the product and a good way to store the knife when not in use, although I've bought a sheath for them (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005P0OSVM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) as it is incredibly sharp out of the box and safety first! The utility is a beautiful looking knife with the damascus finish, finely balanced and so comfortable in the hand it's very easy to cut food, no real chopping needed as a little pressure on the blade and it cuts like butter, so easy and enjoyable food prep. I don't mind paying more for quality as I will look after these beauties and hopefully they will last a lifetime. I'm already saving for the santoku and kiritsuke knives to add to my collection. Additionally, the website is very informative on maintainance of the knives and I have also bought a ceramic honing rod and 1000/6000 whetstone. Very highly recommended and beautiful looking. I have become a VIP member so hopefully I can get a good discount for further purchases or review for free, ;)

Very sharp and effective
The knife is a bit heavy, but that's just because it's so solid. It's beautifully balanced between the blade and the handle, and it's very comfortable to use. The blade is extremely sharp, and the knife is very effective in cutting any type of bread. No regrets at all.
