Hard to read. Very small typeface

I wonder what the author was thinking, because the typeface is both too small and too light. At least for my eyes, impossible to read without magnifying it. Seriously.

Great learning

I learned a new knitting technique while in lockdown. The book came well packaged and in perfect condition. The dimension it adds to knitwear is astounding

Challenging way to learn a new style. Are you up to it?

Made a couple of items. Innovative designs. Took one star away, wish there is more sample finished sweater. Some designs are too complicated. I like the simple ones. Cover sweater is breathtaking. My coworker commented it is a Nordstrom sweater that can sell for 250$. Lol.

Beautiful, well thought out book

This book features 89 different "tucks", with a few projects, to get you started. The technique is a simple one, so don't be intimidated to try it. Tracy's a very organized and thoughtful teacher, and the book is like taking an extended workshop with her.If you enjoy adding dimension to your knitting, and want something more unusual than regular cables or knit stitches, I highly recommend this book!

Extremely well written and beautifully photographed!

This book is very well written and there are lots of photos to assist in learning the techniques as well as understanding how to create more bold and subtle textures. I highly recommend this book if you're interested in a different way to create texture. I've been curious about Tucks but haven't had the confidence to try them until reading her description and method. She has some very nice projects showing off the beauty of this technique. I have been knitting for about 15 years. I consider myself to be an intermediate knitter. Her introduction gets to the heart of the skills needed...knit, purl, and the ability to read your knitting...I totally agree....

inspirational as a knitter

I'm not advanced as a knitter, perhaps just intermediate. The patterns here look rather advanced, but they also look rather amazing! This book inspires me to move beyond my comfort level. I've never seen anything like these dimensional patterns. I think they would be fun to try as swatches and put together in a blanket before going all out to make a big sweater.

Tracy Purtscher did a great job working out the variations of this technique

Tracy Purtscher did a great job working out the variations of this technique, and designing a simple charting convention. Very nice, and a useful reference book for those who would like to incorporate the tuck knitting technique into their knitting designs. Slight point of confusion: the tuck knitting in this book is the creative use of welts to make textures and shapes. There is a separate technique known as tuck stitch where you repeatedly slip a stitch while accumulating yarn overs on top. Two different things.

Amazing results with such a simple technique

Amazing results with such a simple technique! Kudos to the author for her singular ingenuity. The story of her journey of discovery and inventiveness is truly charming. The photos are gorgeous, the directions clear, and the variety of the stitch patterns are astounding.

A great book for understanding and using the tuck technique.

I hand and machine knit, but had never really used tuck knitting, so wanted to understand it more before doing it on the machine. This book is ideal for me as it starts from introducing the individual stitches and their abbreviations very clearly. There are far more ways to do it than I realised! It then has a big section on almost 100 different tuck stitches and patterns, from simple all over patterns to ones that look like both vertical and horizontal cables. At the end are 10 projects for you to knit, from simple handwarmers through other accessories and jumpers to ponchos and a blanket. I love a couple of the designs, and may well knit both, as well as now being able to use the designs to liven up my machine knitting, either by hand or using a punchcard. Excellent value, all you will ever need on tuck stitching if you like to make your own designs or tweak existing ones.

Enthralling book

This book is enthralling. I'm a really new knitter - about three month's worth of struggling - and I knit Portuguese style, just to add to the potential complications, although there really aren't any and it's a method I'd recommend to anyone. I love and am fascinated by the learning process, and this book looks so challenging, like facing life in a new country with no language skills. But, halfway through my first swatch, I'm thrilled to discover that I can do this! It's really strange to begin with, but Tracy Purtscher explains so well, and the visual 'markers' are so easy to follow that really, it's like finding you have the vocabulary already and the sentences all fall into place. You just need to start speaking the language - doing, rather than reading and panicking - and it all makes sense. Wonderful. I don't think it would be easy for a complete beginner - you'd want to have your basic knits and purls up your sleeve - but honestly, compared to, say, tackling cabling or entrelac - been there, cracked it and never found it much fun - this is really, truly do-able. Better than do-able. Fun! Even for someone as new to it all as me. The textures produced are totally wonderful, and the possibilities endless. I can't wait to try more and more.

Looks promising.

Lovely book. I'm hoping it's not too complicated, there are lots of graphs for the different patterns and if you're used to working in this way, it should be useful in adapting to other items, garments. The stitches are interesting and offer well defined textures. There are 10 projects from scarves and fingerless gloves to sweaters and a poncho. I wanted something more of a challenge and I think I have found it.

Oh my gosh

This was a lucky find, soo pleased I purchased it. Dimensional tuck knitting sounds really complicated, but I can assure you it not. The instructions and charts are clear and easy to understand. Would suit people of all capabilities

Fascinating texture

I’ve always been a tactile fan and love movement in fabric. This book helps me achieve far more fluidity in designing with yarns. You will definitely have people pay attention to your creations with these techniques.
